I'm looking into buying a bow this summer. I want a good quality bow that won't break the bank. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. I've shot before but it's been a couple of years. Thanks in advance!

1. Get your draw length measured
2. Look at used bows of good quality that fit you

Go to a local bow shop and shoot anything and everything. A few years back I went in and shot several different bows and walked out with the Bowtech Assassin. They pushed a Matthews on me heavily because that's what they all shot. Figure out what YOU like.

I shot a bunch and bought a PSE a few years back. I got a DreamSeason EVO. I believe it is the best hunting bow ever made. I've shot nearly every top of the line bow kn the market since and none shoot as good as mine. This is all my opinion on what fits me.
I would NEVER buy a used bow unless it was from someone that I knew well. Ive seen too many people buy a bow and it has a cracked limb or other issues. That "cheap" used bow just cost them more than a new one.
If you are wanting to keep costs low, look into package deals at your local pro shop. Stay away from the big box stores and their so called "pro shop". Most of those guys cant cut arrows properly much less set up a bow for you.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

Titan and FoxTrot are right on. You need to shoot many bows and see what fits you the best and feels the most comfortable. I would not say that I would NEVER buy a used bow, but I would certainly shoot it many times and look it over very well before buying it. I agree with staying away from the big box stores. Find a local archery shop.

Hmmm.. the MQ1 that I gave $200 for at the pawn shop still slings a 400grn arrow at 285, and kills deer just as well as it would if I had bought it new. Just be sure to check it out well.

I really enjoy shooting my Elite E35 but you have to go to a shop that carries several brands and shoot them all to see what you like.

Shoot a New Breed if you get a chance. Good bows, dead in hand super smooth and the price compared to the big names will make you smile. Broadhead Barn in Paris is a dealer as well as Collin County Archery in Princeton. If you get around Bonham you can come by and shoot mine, I have 3 different models
