Springfield Armory M1A Loaded Precision Adjustable Stock Has anyone shot one? I've heard several different things about their accuracy. Are they capable of shooting MOA? The model in the video looked like it is the National Match model. How much more accurate are the than the standard? I like the idea of taking a newer version of a historical rifle and using it for modern pursuits. What is an distance I could be accurate to with good glass?

My experience with the M1A pointed out the stock attachment 'system' and it's bedding needs as a glaring weakness in the design. If somebody has come up with something to address that, it would go far in rehabilitating the M1A. The action itself is not bad at all.
Kind regards, charlesb

That is one sexy rifle! I'm also a fan of them in the bullpup configuration. No idea on the accuracy

I was lucky enough to carry an M14 43 years ago, currently own a Springfield Armory M1A standard loaded. have no intention of alterin and messing up a classic rifle. the M14 and M1A are one, they are classics and in my eyes not tampered with. kinda like taking an 1894 30-30 and alatering it, it is no longer that rifle.

For accuracy you will need to go with a Super Match or at least a national match. These guns are built for reliabilty not subMOA accuracy. A loaded model is probably a 2-3 MOA gun at best with factory ammo. Reloading your own might cut that down a bit.
By far the greatest rifle to go shoot it up and have fun with!!
It doesnt kick at all and those iron sights can reach out and touch you!
Let's go DOGE!!!!!

What is an distance I could be accurate to with good glass? I've talked with Chad about loading for it. He tells me they're finicky and would need a slow burning powder. Maybe he'll chime in here. I'd love to have one some day, but unless it shoots at least 1" at 100 then I won't be happy with it. On the other hand Designated Marksmen use them to 800 yards, I believe. I don't know what has been done to the rifle and if they are using Federal Gold Medal Match, as I suspect they are. Be interesting to see what it takes to get one to be a 1 MOA rifle.

You should get an AR 308 way before an M1A if you want accuracy. Their accuracy sucks unless you spend thousands to have a smith mod it. Once made accurate, it's rather delicate in terms of staying that way.
That said, I really want one of the SOCOM 16 versions with a red dot.

The DM rifles are the old national match rifles that the AMU or Quantico guys built.

Thank you.
What did they do to the rifles? Match grade barrel of either Springfield or custom maker. National match gas system with trigger group as well. Fully bedded in either a hand selected walnut stock or if newer a McMillan stock.

Sweet rifle, looks like a JAE stock or that Archangel thing. The only two powders i use in mine are IMR/H 4985 (H4895 yeilds a slight velocity gain) for 168's and my favorite IMR4064 for 175's. 42.2 4064 Stuffed in a Fgmm case w/ a 175 smk at 2.830 touched off by 205M primer is a winner for my rifle.

NM or SM are not needed for accuracy. I have standards that shoot Sub MOA that are all GI parts. I've also bought a new loaded that shot 1/2" groups out of the box. I'm not sure about the standard models that are all commercial parts in regards to accuracy.
If you're planning on buying a new M1A loaded, I have a pre-ban NM with GI parts I'm selling is more desirable from both a collectability and a shooter standpoint.

My M1A Loaded will shoot 3/4" groups with federal gold metal match with my old eyes.
