First year in TX... but I grew up hunting Duck/Geese in NY. I'm more hooked to waterfowling now due to the fact that the season is alot longer and the weather is WaaaaaaaY better here!
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Yes, this is my first season hunting all together, and I'm definitely hooked to waterfowl. Very frustrated right now with season ending on the 25th and picking up what appears to be the flu a few days before.

This is my first season.... I am EXTREMELY hooked!!! I won't give up deer hunting quite yet but I love duck hunting. I feel like there is a lot more skill involved in it. Anyone can go out and put crosshairs on a buck 100 yds away and shoot it with a high powered rifle. The main thing that intrested me is the skill... Calling, the knowledge of the way you set up your decoys, and the shot. It takes a lot more skill to hit a duck decoying than a deer at 100 yds..... QUACKHEAD!!!!

I took some friends a couple of weeks ago duck hunting, and they still cannot stop talking about it. Both are avid deer hunters, and both have volunteered to help me dig and build a bigger blind for next year.

First year to duck hunt for real.
I've been with friends before, but this has been the first year that I've really gotten into it. My wife bought me a lab for my bday last year (November of 2007) and I took her to Zack ad High Performance Retrievers (he posts here a bit).
It has been extremely satisfying educational, enjoyable and humbling all in one. Both I and the dog need more work and continuue to learn every hunt. To say I am hooked is an understatement.

Sort of.............I just started duck hunting again this year after about a 20 to 25 year break. I had never hunted with decoys, calls, and a dog. I grew up in Louisiana and you could go find a place that had plenty of duck traffic and shoot all you wanted, mostly skillet shots on woodies. I really didn't realize what I was missing until I let my 15 year old son and the ducks flying over my house talk me into doing this. I feel like about this time next week I am going to have the DT's like someone trying to quit an addiction cold turkey. We still have the conservation goose season and we are shooting clays every other weekend, hopefully that will settle me down some. I can hardly wait until Teal season gets here.

Hey Spanky, not to out-do you but when I got back to duck hunting five years ago it was the first time in about 40 years. Yes, about 40 years!!! I had to learn to ID ducks like I had never done it before. Sure mallards and teal were easy but some of the other ducks made me get out my thinking cap again. Welcome back Mister Kotter...and enjoy the great outdoors.

If I don't get one this weekend that is what I am headed for. The sad part is if I would have just went to the shooting range and spent the time before the season that I have spent lately I would have had all my shooting problems sorted out. I didn't have a whole lot of issues getting on ducks I just couldn't connect with them solid enough to knock the out of the sky. My problem turned out to be to much lead and an eye alignment problem. I think we have that sorted out now and if I can just get a bird in range I think I can plant him. The last time we went to shoot I left the range with the feeling I couldn't miss. That's 90% of the battle.

I'm hooked. Been 13 times.
Got ducks 3 of those days and snipe the last two. Wish some of them other 10 days were productive.
Trying to decide if I will go Friday morning for my last ducks of the year. I think I will skip the mad weekend rush.

This is my first full year. Went on a couple last year, getting laid off recently has increased my number of hunts this year. I'm definitely hooked and even took my eight year old girl on a few trips and she got her first last weekend, a drake ringneck!

I blame a good portion of the addiction on the dog. I mean you have to take them hunting after the work that Zack and you have put into them. I know because I did the same thing. Our dogs were probably there at the same time.
