Well crap, now I miss hunting an animal that doesn't exist also.
Somebody needs to start a "What caliber for fabulous blue marbled fuzzaroo?" and maybe another thread or two on hunting technique and skinning methods. Maybe Glenn Guess could put together a video on calling them.

Rosemary’s Fabulous Blue Marbled Fuzzaroo Chili with Black, Red & Pinto Beans
(Also works well with venison.)
Ingredients (4 to 6 large servings):
4 tablespoons olive oil 2 pounds Fuzaroo meat, ½ ground & ½ rough chopped (or all one way or the other) 6 or 8 garlic cloves, chopped 1 medium or large onion, chopped 1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded & chopped 4 tablespoons ancho chili powder 2 chipotle peppers in adobo, chopped (look in Mexican section of market. A small 6 oz. can will have more than enough.) 1 can chopped/diced tomatoes (14.5 oz. can) 2 tablespoons ground cumin 2 quarts chicken stock (You may end up needing only one, but have two on hand to be sure to have enough to keep chili covered during entire cooking process.) 1 12-ounce bottle dark beer (Michelob Amber Bock is good. Get a six-pack and drink the other five) 1 cup (6 oz.) dried black beans 1 cup (6 oz.) dried pinto beans 1 cup (6 oz,) dried red (kidney) beans 1 or 2 ears fresh corn, cut off cob (or a cup or three of frozen whole kernel corn) 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (optional for topping at end of cooking process)
Preparation:
Heat the oil in a heavy pot until lightly smoking. Add Fuzzaroo meat, garlic, onion, and jalapeno. Cook over medium heat until meat has browned. Add the ancho chili powder, chipotles, tomatoes, and cumin and cook for ten minutes longer. Add the corn, beer and chicken stock to cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and add beans. Simmer for 3 to 4 hours, or until meat and beans are tender, stirring occasionally. Add stock as necessary during simmer to keep meat and beans covered. Salt & pepper to taste (salt and pepper should not be added before this point) Adjust taste with additional chili powder as desired, and add cilantro if desired.
Optional toppings when served: Sour cream, Feta cheese, Goat cheese, Mexican cheese, chopped/sliced jalapenos, chopped/sliced black olives, chopped fresh tomatoes, chopped fresh cilantro, chopped red, white or green onions, etc.
ENJOY!

Looks to be about a 160 on the Laurel and Hardy scale.

Will a 270 kill it or is a 30-06 really what's needed?

My great, great, great, great, great Grandad used to regale us with stories of the 'Blue marbled Fuzzaroo'. They were awesome creatures in their day.

Will a 270 kill it or is a 30-06 really what's needed? 270 would've worked fine. In the words of the great Chital Shikari, 'It's all about shot placement'.

Will a 270 kill it or is a 30-06 really what's needed? You can't tell from that picture, but when they're alarmed, they use their powerful back legs to hop like a kangaroo - the tail is a balancing mechanism. Point being, obviously need a 30-06 as the 270 is not suited for large hopping animals.

It is a little know fact that during the fuzzarrut (so called for the great amount of downy fuzz that grows on the dewlaps of the males), the groups you see are matrilineal but patrilocal. This means that the small herds (called a "fuzzy" or "fuzzies") you see are female dominated but move to the area of a lone male during the period of the rut. This, of course, differs from the South American Scintillated Fuzzaroo that is primarily matrilineal and matrilocal. Back in the day, Marlin Perkins of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom had an episode about the South American species. As usual, Marlin was in the helicopter up in the sky (always a Bell 47) watching as Jim was down on the ground with some Yanomamo guide, trying to wrestle a big male to the down for radio collaring. If you recall, Jim was almost never shown in the studio where Marlin would introduce/discuss segments of the show. This is because Jim was always recovering in hospital from his injuries and apparently the kicking the fuzzaroo gave him actually resulted in Jim being hospitalized for several weeks. People often think the fuzzaroo to be quite pretty and peaceful, but if challenged or cornered, the fuzzaroo can defend itself, though they usually just move away from danger. I believe the episode on the South American Scintillated Fuzzaroo is not amongst the "lost episodes" of the series, either misplaced or stolen. I was surprised that the fuzzaroo episode didn't make the Dangerous Moments episode, but I think it was filmed after it.

We are a truly blessed nation with the North American White Tail. Where would we be without them. I would be sad and bored without them. The other animals just don't do it for me like deer. I think about them all of the time and spend countless hours chasing them. My wife will testify to that. Been busy hog hunting U know, the other wild game. i been concentrating on them.
