I am needing to find a sling for a bolt action synthetic stock rifle. What would you suggest or what have you used? I have looked at the TAB Gear Sling and they look pretty good to me but wanted to get some opinions and look around for some comparisons.

TAB gear sling is a huge help while using it to shoot positional. It isnt a very sticky sling when slinging the rifle without crossover. It is the sling I use for matches.

I've never used the TAB, what's the difference between that and the VTAC?

I have a claw from academy. It's pretty decent and not expensive.

You adjust a TAB to fit you. It is designed to pull the rifle into your shoulder when you're using it to help shoot unsupported. Once it is adjusted, it is locked in. The VTAC adjusts length quickly, as needed.

I wish I knew more about rifle slings... I know just enough to know that I don't know much.
Is there a good online guide, with lots of pictures?
Kind regards, charlesb

I have a claw from academy. It's pretty decent and not expensive. I like my claw for a standard carry sling. Never owned a sling for the use of shooting unsupported. But for a regular carry sling, the claw is the best I've owned.

From what I have seen it looks like all of the slings are being attached to the side of the stock instead of the underside. This may be a silly question but what is the negative of attaching it to the underside? I am going to attach the sling to a B&C Tactical/Varmint Stock https://www.stockysstocks.com/stocks-by-...tion-stock.html so how would you go about attaching the sling to the side of the stock if necessary? Thanks, I really appreciate all of the feedback.

When it is attached to the side, you can cross sling the rifle, barrel down, in front of you and quickly shoulder and shoot. If you don't want it barrel down in front of you, rotate it to the back (sans backpack of course). Also with a quick adjust sling attached to the side you can tighten the sling to help pull the stock into the shoulder.
This is done with flush cups that recess into the stock.

I use the tab sling and really like it, enough to put flush cups in a hs I have for a temporary use stock.
