I have a Colt LE6920 with 1:7 twist in 5.556 and was wondering what groups others are getting out of this rifle! I'm averaging about 1.75" but that's with cheap American eagle ammo. Thanks for info.

At what distance? I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that Mil-Spec requires like 4 MOA.

3-shot or 5-shot?
Most ARs, in my experience, are not sub-MOA guns. If you can get 1.5" 5-shot groups out of it with decent factory ammo, that's about as good as you can reasonably expect. Some factory guns will shoot better than that, and many will shoot worse. But in my experience, that's about the best average group you can expect from 6920-level AR (anything in that same price range with roughly the same features and build quality).
Though I've never shot one of the more expensive models myself, I've heard those can get to MOA or slightly better.

I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

Are you going to buy match grade ammo?

Good question. My post assumed you had some sort of 1-4x scope on there. If you're running open sights, 1.75" is an excellent group.

With a decent scope all my AR's will maintain under MOA. Have not shot the one you speak of though.
I cannot remember shooting any Rock River ARs that would not shoot good ammo under an 1 inch and I have shot a bunch of them.
None of the one I am speaking of are what y'all call "entry " level though.

My DD m4v1 was sub-moa at 100yds with reloads (75gr bthp/varget) using a Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50 and the only other upgrade in the rifle was a Geissele SSA-E trigger.

Guess I should included more information in my post. Leupold vx3 4-12-50 scope 100 yards 5 shot group . I do plan on testing out some match ammo was just curious what to expect from both. I know a 6920 isn't a high dollar custom AR but in my opinion it's not entry level bushmaster either so I was expecting decent groups.

Don't think it's the rifle. I consider the AE 55gn ammo as plinking/training ammo or if you just want to shoot a bunch hogs in a hurry ammo.
I'd try some of that Priv Partisan 75gn ammo linked earlier. You have a 1/7 twist use it. Moving up in weight should help a lot. I'd grab 5-6 of different weights and manufacturers and see what the rifle likes best.

If it is the factory trigger, get a RRA/LMT 2 stage trigger at a bare minimum. You can find them for around $80. If you want the bees knees, get a Geiselle. You should see your groups improve, even with the same ammo.

I picked up some Hornady 75gn match ammo and try it out. The goal is to be able to shoot 300 yards and hit a 10" plate.

last time I shot my 6920 with a 3x9 scope on a bench, I got 1.5" 5-shot group at 100 yards with some good ammo. When I first got it, I shot a couple 1" 3-shot groups with cheap ammo at 100 yards, but never was able to repeat that on following range sessions.
