Just took down the Springfield Operator for the first time. I scrubbed all the cabon out, dried, reassembled, and oiled. Its probably always done it, but with the slide all the way back, ease it forward about a quarter of an inch and there's a slight hang. It doesn't keep the pistol from working, I just want to prevent a malfunction in case this could cause one when the pistol is dirty again.
Anybody got an idea of something I could polish? Where it would be? Or just live with it?

Disconector. It has to do that to reset the trigger.

Disconnector, doesn't allow the trigger to be pulled until the slide is forward. One could polish it and the face it rides on, but not incredibly necessary.

May have some drag on the seat spring leaves connected to the disconnector that need polishing.

I wonder if the recoil spring is giving up too?

After I launched the retainer across the kitchen twice I highly doubt it.

Weird... My glock doesn't do that... Lol just kidding. However my both of my RIA 1911's did that. I just figured it was because they weren't the highest quality guns.

Do any of you actually use gun grease on your slides? I have started doing this on a new ss Sr1911.

I've been waiting on you and your danged Glocks, and their reliability, and how easy they are to take down. Well stow it AR-10 user that had jams on my rifle range while my bolt actions keep working RELIABLY.

I put a drop of 3 in 1 on my slide rails. Exactly what I used a couple of hours ago. Where is that thread with the link to the extensive tests of various oils?

Plus shooting suppressed in a gas gun that's over gassed gums the action up real good after 250 rounds or so . If I remember correctly, which you know I have photographic memory, most of those jams were you Really need an adjustable gas block

Hoppe's Bench Rest Copper Remover is excellent for wiping out carbon. This Hoppe's has a gold and brown label, not the old orange labeled stuff. Then followup with by blasting everything with Gun Scrubber. If there are areas that still need attention, another patch with Hoppe's followed by Gun Scrubber should fix everything up. Make sure to put oil on all of the springs. For an EDC, change the recoil spring every 2,000 or so rounds. Change all springs at least every 5,000 or so. Make sure to wear some sort of eye protection when changing the main spring. Here's a nice video on changing springs fwiw - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_QnJzLPX1YOn oils, there are as many opinions as there are 1911 manufacturers. That lube test link does not necessarily translate to reliable function in a 1911. A lube for a 1911 needs to adhere under mechanical pressure and have a viscosity which allows reliable functioning. Bill Wilson's Ultima II oil and grease works well in my experience. For hot weather, grease adheres better than oil on the rails. Brian Enos' Slide Glide is a very good product also. Bill Wilson and Brian Enos are good folks to listen to when it comes to 1911's. For warm weather and long range sessions, the Slide Glide is the way to go. http://www.brianenos.com/pages/slide-glide.htmlhttp://ads.midwayusa.com/product/293382/...vd0wBoC76Dw_wcB

Good stuff, sir. I used the MPro-7 carbon remover I use on my rifles, wiped dry, then oiled with 3 in 1 cuz thats what I had.

I use hoppes gun oil, sewing machine oil, tranny fluid, 90 weight... Just copious amounts of whatever I have at hand.

Mobil One motor oil.
I had one Govt model that I ran with dry-moly only, never had any problems with it but eventually went back to using synthetic motor oil.
Kind regards, charlesb
