After waiting patiently for my 6 creed dies to show up, I was finally ready to start the load development process. That was until my 8 year old Chargemaster decided it won't hold a zero. The scale has a 5-6 grain swing in either direction. The circuit is isolated on a surge protector, no fans, no ac, and on it's own isolated shelf. And yet, still it swings to and fro. A prometheus would be really handy right about now.
Decided to change up my process. For years I haven't been happy with the Chargemaster. Going back to a thrower, only this time I ordered a Scott Parker tuned Ohaus and Omega 2 trickler. Slow yes, but should be more accurate than the Chargemaster. Keeping my fingers crossed that scale shows up soon. I'm itching to shoot.

Electronic gadgets are cool, fun and make things so much faster and easier. The lowest extreme spread loads I have ever made were with a Lee powder thrower then "trickled" up (no trickler so used a 38-55 case) to final weight using a Herters Balance Beam scale. ES of 4 When shot from a 7-30 Waters TC 14 inch barrel.

I only ever used the uniflow then a hand trickler on every charge. I don't make much ammo.

I've got a spare GemPro 250 that I'm not using if that will get you shooting you can borrow it until your new stuff comes in.
Just shoot me a PM.
Edit - I've been fighting the urge all week to call Brand. I've been saving to build another gun but I might forego that and just belly up and buy the Prometheus.

The chargemaster will throw a heavy charge every so often very rarely have I seen a light one, but it has happened. I dump the overs and run it again till it comes out as accuarate as my scale is capable(+/- .1 grain.)

There's something screwball about a dispenser if it stops dumping before the target weight shows on the scale. Weird things happen where there are microprocessors and software involved. My PACT digital scale occasionally locks up in an error condition and the fix is to force the processor to reload the software by doing certain things through the keypad. Maybe there's something similar that can be done on the Chargemaster when it stops short like that.

I'm practically a next door neighbor. Grew up and still live in Wylie. I ordered up a spare gempro 250 this morning. I'll be fishing lake fork this Sunday to keep me occupied.

I dump the overs and run it again till it comes out as accuarate as my scale is capable(+/- .1 grain.) I understand all the in's and out's of the Chargemaster. Close to 10,000 rounds loaded on mine. My problem isn't with the dispenser. The scale will not hold a zero. Turn on the chargemaster, let sit for a couple hours to warm up, calibrate it, zero it. Once I have a zero, the scale will read between -6 grains to +6 grains, and everything in between. It simple will not remain on zero. Try to rezero, same bit. Put a 105 berger hybrid in the pan, same swing.

I'd probably call RCBS about it, their customer service seems to have a pretty good reputation.

You'd be surprised how much the charge master lies to you sometimes.
I'm not surprised at all. The scale has always been the weak link of the chargemaster. Garbage really. This gempro 250 and Scott Parker tuned Ohaus should be infinitely better.

IIRC the RCBS unit is made by PACT. They are located in Grand Prairie. I would give them a call and see if they have any suggestions. If not, call RCBS.

RCBS customer service is great. I had a defective unit, they had me smash my old one, send them picture, and they sent me a replacement.
