Give these a try, price for a bonded bullet is good. http://www.shootersproshop.com/nosler-products/bullets/bonded-performance.htmlHave a few boxes of them and haven't used them, have used the loaded military version and they did well. Made like the trophy bonded. Not a high BC bullet but I do not look at the 223 as a long range hog gun.

Powder selections are pretty scare these days. Dont overlook Ramshot TAC if you're able to locate some. Load data is right about the same as H335 and it meters just as smooth. It was actually chronoing a touch faster than H335 for me too.

I like the [idea of the] 60-grain Partition for hunting with my AR. I have yet to shoot a hog with it as I have too many other rifles to choose from, but one of these days...I am confident the Partition will perform. I'll have to make myself take the AR out before too long.

When you get around to trying the partitions I think you will like the results. Have used them in 223 and 22-250 on deer and a few hogs the biggest was a sow that pushed 200lbs. Should have recovered the bullet on the biggest one ut didn't dig through the guts to find it from a frontal quartering shot through the shoulder, bullet was in the guts somewhere. Broadside deer I have yet to not have an exit with the Partition.

Try the 60 gr partitions. They are very accurate and I saw a skunk turn inside out when RR shot it with a partition. I'm using benchmark under them, maybe 25 grains or so IIRC.

77 grain nosler custom comps are little laser beams an the added weight goes a long way in benefit.

Alright. I gotta decide on a target load, and a killing load. So I'll target with the 69 gr. SMK, and I need to pick one bullet for the killing. I don't want to develop a load for all the killing bullets I've been given choices of from yall.
60 gr. Partition 77 gr. Nosler Custom Comp 75 gr. Sirocco.
What say ye.

You already know my take... 60 grain partitions over 23 grains of benchmark are bad medicine for a little gun. Several hogs in the 200 lb range and too many deer up to about 140 lbs live weight to count. All broadside body shots and no recovered bullets and no escaped critters to this date. Been using that bullet in 223 since 2005. My only complaint is cost, and will likely drive me to try the 64 grain bonded solid base just because im a tight square head.
It's hell eatin em live

I already had you down for Partitions.
The price is certainly a factor. I just looked at cost of the bullets mentioned, and the Swift and the Partitions are running neck in neck in cost. So I will reserve what ever I pick for live targets. But I can't help but gravitiate to the Siroccos kmon1 mentioned. They are 75 gr. and boattailed. How can I help myself if I can't get closer, I'm gonna dial up and send lead from far away. Course that's just a possibility, and I am really planning on diving off into the wooded creek bottom where they have been hiding for the last couple of weeks. So most likely the shots will be up close and personal. Decisions, decisions.

In my 223s and 22-250 the partition gets the nod, it has worked well in them on game. The 75gr Sirocco is my choice in the 22-243 where the twist rate will handle it and can take good advantage of the higher BC.
Never used the Nosler 77 grain but have the 80gr version. At 22-243 velocities it is more frangible than I like for bigger critters, sure makes a mess on exit from a yote though. Perhaps at the lower velocity of a 223 it would behave a lot better. Cup and core bullets have a tendency to fragment a lot when started at 3200+ fps.

I'm using Ramshot TAC and 62gr Barnes X in my AR's for hogs. Good medicine, and the first hunt that I missed since moving north temporarily. I also FL size after shooting, and after 3 loads, that brass goes into the range fodder pile.

check out AR-Comp. I had great luck with it in my bolt gun VERY low ES and SD Last gun show I bought a lb of AR-Comp on a whim. The best accuracy & performance yet out of my AR & Ruger #3 .223's! Definitely worth a try in any .223.
