What kind of ducks are these? I have a good idea but am not sure. Are they uncommon for this area? I've been looking at you guys posts and haven't seen any like these. They are still wet but the drake is really cool looking. Lots of different colors when the sun hits him. Oh and they are little bitty guys too. Bout the size of one of those mini rubber footballs.
Drake: Ruby throat, purple tented head,White RING around the neck and some green on the wings and a white and black pecker.
Thanks

I'm not used to identifin' ducks all splayed out like road kill.

Drake looks to be a Ring-neck. However, splayed out like roadkill I think 'purple headed tank turd' is a more apt descriptor.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

Them ducks are good eatin' for sure. They don't even need any special preparation. Just breast 'em out and throw 'em on the grill for a few minutes.

Ain't nothing wrong with a ringneck. Take em when you can.

I've got a smilin' spoonie in my freezer right now. I think he is going to become lawn ferltilize very shortly, if youget my drift.

So nobody answered my question... Is it not uncommon? Are they considered "easy" or something? Remember I'm no duck hunter...

I wouldn't say any duck can be considered easy! AS for a trash duck......It's not my number one pick for shooting and especially not cleaning or eating. It's kinda like comparing fish as to what you prefer. I'd rather eat a trout and salmon over a catfish or striper. In the same way, I'd rather eat a widgeon or any puddle duck for that matter over a ringneck.

Hope this helps

They're common, very common for this area.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.
