I think I've only seen one or two people post no flickering with the .228 download. I def do not have flickering in day or night mode so far.

Speaking with ATNs tech rep about flickering yesterday he had this to say.
It is definitely software related but the solution is very involved and is at the top of their priority list for a future firmware fix.
That said it has to do with core synchronization and refresh rates that make it NO trival task to fix.
So if you aren't seeing flickering with your x-sight it is probably just a result of the ambient lighting and other environmental conditions or settings your running at the time - it isn't that your scope is different or special in any way and that it won't flicker the very next time you use it.

Ohhh HuntTXhogs, what do they know, I bought a 700 dollar Altimeter from them. Lol The tech guys to my knowledge don't get on here to provide info so getting the word from the horses mouth still qualifies as superior to anything you'll read on the Internet, here or anywhere else. Guy was smart and had to reduce it down to terms I could understand but when you lock eyes and he says it is definitely software related (flickering) then that means there is hope in getting it done eventually without a need to ship scopes off for repair. Who is going to do the video review or instructional on the BDC feature - I call NOT IT

Marvelous; absolutely marvelous. They know the problem; they know it's no trivial matter to fix; it's on their short list of things to fix in the future.

Obviously a pre 228 firmware video but nonetheless a video I hadn't seen. At minute mark 2:14 I am writhing in my chair thinking SHOOT for the double kill....

There are a lot of pieces to this that are very difficult and will take time. Flip side, their "tech" guy told me last year in their SHOT Show booth that they had tested the X-Sight and it could see 200 yards with no illuminator. Be careful about what they tell you.

It doesn't. That is what their tech guy said in the booth last January. Reading is fundamental.

Since installing .228, I now have experienced a problem, twice, with rapid battery discharge. In both cases, I have turned the device off for a few hours, and then, when I attempt to turn it back on, I get a "flash" on the viewing screen, and then total darkness. Pulling the batteries, I discover that the two batteries that are installed with the negative ends sticking out are totally dead; the other two are perfectly OK! Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm using Energizer Ultimate Lithiums, fresh out of their packaging.

I was messing with mine 3 days ago and left the batteries in over night and I kept the WiFi on (turned off the scope) (I was messing with view finder on my phone). When I went to turn on the X-Sight the next night, the batteries were totally dead (again Energizer Ultimate Lithiums!). I unscrew the battery housing for now on.....$25 for 8 batteries can put a hurtN on the wallet!

I have never encountered a consumer-facing company that was willing to publicly post beta-grade, potentially incomplete/ unstable firmware, let alone NOT leaving a stable release available for those who aren't willing to take the risk of beta firmware causing damage to their property. Labeling the firmware "beta" could potentially allow a company to merely state to those customers "Well, you know, you DID agree to install potentially unstable beta firmware."
By Tuesday, I am supposed to be receiving my replacement 3x with manual focus, and I will be honest: this company is getting no satisfaction from me as I will not be installing anything from them that they have labeled "beta." I will unbox it. I will put batteries in it. I will look through it. I will familiarize myself with it, and I will report back here with both the shipping firmware version and my battery life findings after a week of this type of limited use. Afterward, the plan is to put a brand new set of lithium batteries in, and not touch the scope until the first firmware revision AFTER 2.0.00.000 is released, so we will have some measure of what kind of "standby" time to expect. Otherwise, it will live in the bag, and I have no intent of mounting it on my rifle until 2.0.00.whatever is released. If it's a month or a year, so be it.
For the record, when *I* downloaded the firmware, there was no indication on the website that it was "beta" grade. In the future, I will take a screenshot in case I need a paper trail. Honestly, their addition of the "beta" label that wasn't originally there made me uneasy. Did anybody else notice that they added it later?
I know what's next: some blowhard is about to come along and say "Relax..."beta" doesn't NECESSARILY mean you will experience any instability or damage."
My Trijicon Accupoint features NO night vision, NO recording ability, and one other thing: NO chance of not working when I need it. I might be the first person to receive a manual focus-equipped ATN X-Sight 3x...but unfortunately I am NOT going to be the first person to use it. They need to get their ducks in a row before I am willing to take any more chances.

Yeah, Pittstate, I had my scope, all functions, completely turned off for a few hours, and discovered that two of the (brand new, fresh) batteries had become totally discharged. Obviously there are battery-consuming functions (or a short!)going on in the background, even when the scope is powered off. There's something seriously wrong with this product when the customer has to remember to remove the batteries from it every time it is not in use!

I downloaded .228 when it was posted and so far I have not seen the battery drain you describe. I have had my scope off and on several times and the batteries have not drained. I am also using the Energizer Lithiums.

Good afternoon Gents, I am having some issues with the WiFi. The new "name your SSID" directions listed in the updated manual show how you can customize the Name and Password. My problem is I have not had the WiFi function working as of the last update .200 and thought this one would fix it. When I open my file wifi.conf, it is blank...empty... leaving nothing to edit and is why I think the obsidian core is not turning on my WiFi function. I tried to duplicate the text from the manual and it had some error and eventually I came to the conclusion it was incomplete. Can someone, who has a working WiFi version copy and paste the complete text from inside the config file or message me to exchange emails so I can get a non-corrupted version of the file. I would like the WiFi function to work. Thanks

If it comes factory loaded with .228, there won't be any chance of them blaming me for installing something still in a testing phase.
