I don't see why it would matter if it was pen fed at any point, that thing is huge... Bet it didn't roll over and let em rub it's belly. I wouldn't have jumped on it.
Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.
Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Even my kids show pigs wouldn't roll rover and let em rub its belly if dogs were after them. Yeah it matters.

Looks like it has cutters to me. They are just worn off. They still curl the lips up.

Looks like someones old duroc breeder boar. Same thought here. We used to let the breeder boars get to about 650 lbs and then sell them around five to seven years of age. Right before selling time, we would get a pair of wire pinchers and cut off about four inches of tusk leaving about an inch on the jaw. The boars would get fed 3 1/2 pounds of ground feed a day, and they would still get this big.

Not feral by any means. Agree, big hog but released. An animal that was raised in captivity and escaped is by definition "feral".

Well first generation feral has to come from somewhere, but "feral" isn't always the same as "wild." I think that is where some of the confusion occurs.

Yes, it matters in many ways. x2 It mayters in every way. I have hunted with dogs many times. A mature wild boar is a handfull and can be dangerous with not enough hunters or dogs. My question is just how wild this pig is.

That's a huge pig but 790? It doesn't seem quite that huge by the photos but maybe I'm wrong.

Release or escape, that is not what I would call a feral hog. I have seen several outfits buy big boars from the sale barn an turn the out. Have clients come out that don't know better for a shoot. Amazes me how many people really can't tell. Several years ago I guided for an outfit that was based off hog hunts. They also bought hogs to sell back east. In 4 months I sorted over 12,000 feral hogs that were either trapped or dog caught. I maybe saw a handful of hogs go over 300 lbs, and they were monsters. I am no expert, but that hog in the photo is just a big Duroc boar. Men may have caught this hog, and really not known , but it's not the same as what I would call a feral hog.
