Was looking to get some opinions on stand heights. Right now Im doing 5' and 10' but is the 5' pointless? Should I go higher? Thanks.

Depends on the terrain you hunt. Elevation helps.

x2. If the terrain is giving you that elevation, it is often times best to keep the blind on/near to the ground as it is easier and quieter to sneak into and out of when the need arises. If the placement requires some elevation, the higher the better... to an extent. In our mesquite country, a 10' to 15' tower is usually sufficient.

Every bit helps in my opinion. 5' is much better than on the ground, 10' is even better. But, as stated, take advantage of the natural terrain elevation first.

+1 on it depends. This season I was a bit late to the stand a couple times. One time scared the deer away when the stand moved as I climbed the latter, next hunt I sat under the stand (behind some brush) because I saw the deer were already feeding in front of the stand, final hunt I made it up the stand about 3 minutes before the deer showed up. That said, elevated stands let you see behind bushes, plus to some degree are slightly safer because you are shooting down (gives you a little sense of security if you are around other hunters if everyone is elevated) - I say slightly because falls probably cause more problems than the elevation helps.

My stand is only 3 feet off the ground and I haven't had any issues. Deer and hogs come in daily.

It is more about location of the blind and placement in that location. In some locations a ground blind is better than a tall tower stand due to the height of the vegetation.

Place we hunted in the hill country had a browse line 5 foot hi. So a ground blind could see a lot more than a tower stand.

In south texas we have 3' tall grass and short thick brush and a tower stand lets you look over/down into the cover and see a lot more than a ground blind.
