Daytime around the ranch on the 4wheeler, I carry a Tromix 458 Socom with irons or Ruger SR 1911. The nighttime belongs to a pair of ARP barreled 6.8x43 ARs, one with N750 and other with Photon 5X. The 6.8s took 69 or my 72 pigs in 2014. One of the 6.8s took a 358 pounder in 2013. Have other guns available but 99 percent of my shooting happens between 60 and 150 yards which is a chipshot for the 6.8

6.8! .308 if I wasn't concerned about the recoil damaging expensive nightvision. .243 scoped bolt gun from a stand during daylight if I was hunting a lone boar.
Fast paced gregarious society forgets the healing power of solitude. It's worked thousands of years. Casting a line/gazing into a campfire/sitting in a blind after a long week is medicine for the soul. The serenity and peacefulness of it all is majestic.

I like my Mossberg MVP in .223, it's light and dang accurate. Smoked one 2 weeks ago with a 64gr bonded Winchester bullet. Shot behind the shoulder at 80yds. Pass thru and made a downright mess in the process. He ran about 30 yards and piled up.

Savage Scout Rifle in .308. It's light to carry and does the job.

anything between a .17hmr and a .308....partial to 7mm-08 and .308 sometimes a .22-250....just got me a new .44 mag Ruger M77...that should be fun, open sights...so many hogs, so little time.

Probably the 30.06 but I've used 17 HMR in the ear all the way up to the 45-70. AR-15 is best for me if there are multiples coming in.

For me I have pretty much settled on the 35 calibers for putting hogs down in a hurry. 350 Rem Mag, 35 Whelen, and the 356 Winchester have all been lights out DRT. Obviously not my first choice for long range pigs but at short to moderate ranges I will choose a 35 of some sort to put them on their butts quick.

I use what I have with me at the time- all bolt action in .22 mag, .223, 6mm, .270, or .280. Either the .22mag or .223 is with me everyday. I never pass up a shot at a hog.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Ran across a deal on a TC 416 rigby. It did the trick. Big boar was running away so he got one in the ham and came out his front shoulder. My daughter said it look like the hog was doing a stoppy. Most of the time it's the DPMS 308
I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

I have taken more with a Marlin 45-70 than anything else and tend to stay with larger calibers. But have used a 30-06 a couple of times and a 35 Whelen AI with Speer 250Gr Grand Slams of which is a good name for them lol.
My favorite is the Marlin GS 45-70 Government as it is short, light and handy. But I am currently working with a Savage built into a .358 Winchester but as of yet to take a single game animal with the cartridge.
But I will say that I have seen many Hogs taken with many calibers that tear up allot of meat and or blood shot meat and have found that by using certain calibers such as the 45-70 Government and cast bullets you can eat right up to the bullet hole.
