Hello all. Looking for someone who may be able to restore/rebuild an old double barrel shotgun. I have the metal works but not really any of the furniture. It's not a quality gun or anything but belonged to my great great granddad. So I don't really want to spend a fortune since it wouldn't be worth much after it was rebuilt but wondering who does this sort of thing and get an idea of what it would cost. I tried to get my dad to do this a few years ago but he never did and now he has passed. Would like to hand a full gun down to my kids/grandkids. I believe its just an old damascus double barrel black powder, Thanks for any advice in advance!

What make of gun is it? Some if those old Damascus guns are worth good money.

The maker is American Gun, Co. of New York and after looking at it again I think it is just iron, not damascus. The forearm stock is still there but none of the but stock. I have the triggers but not any trigger guards or a ramrod. So I would need the furniture made, make/find the guards, find a ramrod and re-blue or re-finish the metal somehow (some pitting). Not really expecting it to fire again but would be nice if that could happen. Just would like it to look nice for the wall. I understand the cost will exceed the value of the gun but wondering what kind of cost I would be looking at. Thanks

I'd suspect the work you want done will be $1200-$2500 depending on the person. Unless you can find a takeoff stock from another gun the buttstock will probably have to be made from scratch. Not cheap.

Thanks TDK, not what I wanted to hear but I appreciate the input. Think your probably right on looking for an existing stock and going from there. Thanks
