I've seen a deer grow multiple times even after the initial deer & score was posted. Seen that too. Mine usually stop growing when I pull the trigger and sometimes even get smaller as I approach? Maybe that is natural regression Most years my WT are what I think they are, if it's a year I've put my hands on muley horns the WT just seem small. Yup. Then if you ever kill a bull elk, and haul him out on foot, deer seem tiny. There is allot to what you guys said, When I started mule, then Elk hunting in, around 79-80, it does change your WT experience to a degree. One, you throw over your shoulder and start to the truck, the other 2, get progressivly "different" LOL

Look, I know that everybody is proud of "their deer". And check me into the column where I'd much rather have a good-looking 150" deer than an ugly [censored] 160" deer. Score isn't everything. That being said, why in the world do so many hunters lie about their deers score? I've seen tons of pictures on this site that the deer wouldn't come within 15" of their claimed score. If you were proud enough to shoot him, then just man up and claim him. You aren't fooling anyone so don't waste out time with your 150" 8-point with 5" G2s. Use this...., http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/...+Whitetail+Deer while i dont get the "ugly" deer angle, you arent saying much by opting for a 150 over a 160, what about the good looking 130 vs. a "ugly" 170? everyone can say size doesnt matter but everyone also knows which deer they would shoot...although there are a few here that would probably shoot the 130 solely out of principal and secretly want to kick themselves in the peanuts for doing it.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

You know the story, early to bed, early to rise hunt/fish make up lies. My friend and I caught a large catfish on trot line some years back and the fish is a full 30 pounds bigger now. The fish has been dead for 20 years but keeps on growing. Should be a lake record by now.

Don't score em and don't worry about it. I usually don't kill one big enough that anybody cares but the ones I have I don't know what they score. If you are paying per inch then you will know what it scores, or at least the score you paid for, so tell everybody that, if it's on your lease then shoot it don't pull your tape on it and strut around camp with your chest bowed out bragging about killing a deer that's what I do. Screw inches, go hunt!!!

If you don't lie about your score, then how do you keep up with all your buddies' lies about their scores?

I guess it's kind of like shooting a 79 and bragging to you buddies but not telling them about the 5 mulligans and 4 foot wedges that you used. I could care less about scores...BUT let a SOB cheat at Golf and I will beat his calves with a 60Degree wedge and leave him crawling to his cart...NOW I'm pizzed Thanks

Same reason guys lie on forums about their gas mileage, horsepower, income, possessions, girlfriends and everything else. Men are competitive by nature and the internet seems anonymous. Guys can describe what they wish was true instead of what actually is true.
God is so good to me.

But they are still the same...it is how you perceive them that changes. Many adjust their scores after the kill to match that perceived score sometimes it appears.

The scorning and "I got a bigger one than you" syndrome has priced a lot of hunters out of hunting. Back in the good old days, the brag was I got a buck or doe, they might add that it was a 6 or 8 point. But it was considered a trophy, even if it was a doe.
