If you are willing to come to Young county, you can cut all you want off my place. There is a ton of dead mesquite that has been there for a couple of years, along with a bunch of green stuff I am going to have to cut for making shooting lanes.

Your from Texas??.....mesquite is everywhere! J.K.....west Texas is nothing but mesquite. Not sure where you are located but there has to be somewhere to buy it. If there is a demand and no supply I'm going to start bringing it back and selling it in the Dallas area

I get mine at Albertson's. They have big bags of mesquite chunks out in front of the store. Probably a little expensive, but I don't use it that much.

As boliverpete said, Albertson's is a good place. Also Kroger, that both carry the same brand, same price, $10 bucks a bag, not to bad a price for store bought, look for the purple bag. I think Academy carries the same brand as well. You can also get pecan, my favorite. Mesquite is a strong smoke, good for open fire grilling, or smoking a brisket, hard to over smoke a brisket. I’m very partial to pecan, give that a try, it is good all round, really good for poultry and pork. It is in the yellow bag, they sell out of that pretty quick, and not stocked as much.

I guess we can star filling up my truck before we head back. Where Buckmark and I hunt is covered in mesquite wood.

Oh no it's not. Beef brisket is an odor sponge. You have to be very careful not to over-smoke a brisket.

Smoke with post or red oak and grill with mesquite. To do a brisket with only mesquite will give it a chemical taste. If I use mesquite to smoke I might throw one or two peices in there and that is it.

Cool, that’s not too far from me. Do they carry a variety of wood, or just mesquite? If you happen to have a phone number, that would be helpful.
