Do yall think TPWD is crazy on Doe season? Have hunted Cass and Marion counties for 12 years and thinking our doe to buck ratio is about 8 to 1.Why not doe all season.Everyone feel free to chime in. [Counting deer there is like counting deer in Vietnam]

Assuming you mean doe to buck ratio and not vice versa like stated. If it is truly 8 bucks to 1 doe then sounds like they have it right but guessing that's not what you mean.

Is that ratio a guess or a stand/blind count or from actual survey?
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Why would you want to shoot a doe that's most likely bred by now? Potentially with 2 fawn bucks. Does it matter if she was bred before she was shot or after? Either way, aren't you taking out the possibility for her to give birth at all? Not trying to be harsh, but it doesn't seem like it matters if she has been bred before or after you shot her. She could have been or could be...seems the same to me

I hunted Leon County just out of Centerville last year and I felt the doe ban was unwarranted and not needed. Poaching is crazy down there tho I heard shots all day and night. Caught 4 tresspasser with guns, confronted them then called the GW Oscar. He said it's bad in that area, he had 3 trucks down there opening day. I got off that lease quick like

TXSHNTR is correct. No dead deer (buck or doe) can ever make babies again once it's shot anyway.

I don't think that the doe season is about whether or not the deer is bred. That definitely does not matter in terms of population effect. I think the theory is that less time to harvest your two does will result in less does being shot all around which should increase the population. I hunt in Bowie county and feel that the population should be higher. I think they should just reduce the doe limit rather than reduce the days you can shoot them.

just what we personally se on lease and fm roads in county Are you keeping incidental or stand counts for hard numbers or is this a WAG on ratio? What is your fawn % for this year? Are you including fawns in the doe numbers you are seeing?
