Sandhills were the last bird a friend from AK needed to finish his list. Booked a late trip with crane wreckers in Blackwell ok. I usually struggle getting along with guides and am rarely impressed. Holy smokes! Brian and monte have got it together. First set up was on a field that had probably 20,000+ cranes on it yesterday. They just didn't want to be there. At 8 Brian pulled the plug and we moved the whole rig to a waterhole. Steadily the geese, mallards, and a few cranes came in. Tiny little cackler. We were supposed to go hunt a friends mallard hole that was holding hundreds of mallards at 1 but decided to stick it out. Glad we did. Finished up limits of cranes and a good pile of geese and mallards. The noisy cricket got it done. Brian even asked to shoot it and smoked a big crane. Which wasn't to hard considering everything was landing in the stuffers at 20 yards. Going again in the am and plan on getting some good pics of the setup. If you are looking for a dedicated crane outfit, I highly recommend crane wreckers.

Very nice. You where about 15 miles from my old ranch.

Few more pics from day 2. Highlight if the trip was watching Brian smash a crane with my 410. He put me on the spot twice on two singles with the noisy cricket. 2/2 smashed. I then handed it to him and said -your turn. Single in- smashed. He's getting it mounted and was grinning like a kid at Christmas. We've already booked for next year. Couple videos. First day we were in the blind with killers. 6-8 in-6-8 dead. Second day-not so much.....

The area looks cold and windy. Is there anything special in a set up for cranes?
Again a great story!

Awesome hunt and photos!
I want to hunt some cranes really bad!
It has got to be a sweet sight to have them giants decoy in on you.
