Does anyone hunt or have hunted in this area. Going to look at a lease up in that area and just wanted some feedback from some members. Thank you

I am on a lease off of 680 about 3 miles north of Goodlett. This was my first year but we have seen a ton of deer. The mature bucks don't get seen much but we have some on camera. We think we are seeing the effects of the drought because we are overrun with young deer. It's a good area and the further north the better up towards the river.

Thanks TXMachinist. I hear there are some pretty good bucks up there. Might also see a muley every now and then.

Yeah. The guys that run the lease have been there 8 years I believe and they say every now and then you will see a muley. They have killed some nice ones in the past. I plan on being on this lease a while. How far North is the place you are looking at?

I hunted a place for 2 years NW of Goodlett(it got sold). We were about halfway between Goodlett and Kirkland just a few miles south of the river. Before the grassfire it was a great place. There were lot of deer, tons of turkey(too many), and just enough pigs. It almost wasnt worth deer hunting until close to Thanksgiving and then all hell would break loose. The quality of deer was good, a good 3.5 yr old 10 pt could reach 140 before the drought, so if you hold off for the 4.5 yrs+ bucks then you will be in good shape. I wouldn't hesitate to get on the right place up there with good neighbors.

My parents have a place north of Goodlett on 680. They are about a mile south of the river. Good deer density in the area. Big bodied deer as well. Last year they had a buck dress at 204lbs.
