Lowes, Home depot, or a plumbing supply, stuff is fairly common and popular for long runs.

I'm just taking 15 and growing gallon jugs I fill with water and pouring them out in a puddle in the pond on my land in Eastland co.

rocks seem to keep the hogs out pretty good so far.

here is our water trailer. it has 3 - 275 gal tanks hooked together at the bottom to dump, and a fill pipe that goes to the top to fill all 3 at the same time.

we have 6 troughs with double tanks on each scattered around the lease

Built mine using an IBC tote a little giant float valve and a half barrel. Made it to where I could haul water to it easily via a 55 gallon barrel and 12v water pump. Deer pigs and turkeys all hit my area several times a day.

Where do you get those big square tanks and what do they weigh empty?

40 lbs? They are pretty light. One person can move them around with no problem. I have a similar setup.

All these posts about water got my melon to thinking lol. 40lbs isn't bad at all. Seems like yall have some good idears going here.

I did not want my deer to be that close to the tank. I was afraid some older smarter deer would be nervous standing that close to the tank with there head in the trough. so that's why I rand the pex line 50 feet or so.

I was told if I paint the tanks Black it will kill the algae and moss that try's to grow in the summer time. anyone know about that?

Wont really kill it, more the shade helps keep it from growing. I suppose if it is in there already, adding the shade will kill it.. Needs sun to grow so....

You may also add a table spoon of bleach, it will evaporate soon after getting to air.

This is my water tank and it works great. I see deer and all kinds of critters use it all of the time.

our hogs would have a field day with that trough mr watkins. I had to fill mine with big rocks to slow them down.

How frequently are you guys having to refill the tanks during summer months?

with 2 holding tanks like I have we fill in April and top off in September. hogs and problems on occasion will make one need attention.

First my tank is painted a dark green. I get very little algae
growing in it at all. I think the lack of sunlight hitting the water is the reason. Now it has been stated a couple to times that you need to put rocks in your water tank. That is TRUE & IMPORTANT thing to do. Not to keep the hogs from turning it over or digging it up. The reason is so that the various small creatures that will drink or try to drink from it don't fall in and drown. In my experience, deer will not drink at a trough what has two dead rats floating in it. Now, it may depend on the size of your trough. If you have a big one, then maybe they will, but if you have a small one like mine, then they will stop drinking when something has died in it. So put rocks in near the edge so that mice, etc can crawl out if the fall in.

mine r full of rocks so the hogs cant wallow in it. been working GREAT so far!

what does watering do for the deer?

It keeps them alive.

We stopped seeing older deer when it got dry a few years back and now that we water them the old ones know there will be water when they come our way! Last 2 years only 2 deer where taken that where over 2 years old! That sucked!!! I figured they where smart enough to know there was no water and a long walk back to get some. This has fixed all of that. We are seeing the older deer at the feed again! Lots of them. Land owner said they would Never drink from it but we proved him wrong on that! He is always spot on on most things with deer!

What do you guys do about the cold? Just let it freeze?

Not much you can do when it freezes.
