Just picked up a hero 3+ Silver last night. Had a few questions for those of you who have been at it for a while..
What mounts do y'all like best for filming your hunts?
How do you film (Continuous, wifi controlled, push-button)?
Any problems with equipment (SD Cards, Waterproof Case, Mounts, etc..)?
What Camera settings work the best for duck hunts (1080p60, 720, ultra wide/med/narrow)?
Any other tips?

I bought the rail mount (for mountain bikes) to mount on my shotgun barrel (just don't forget to flip the filming on your settings). I like the shots, but there are some issues. You typically don't get the full view of birds coming in and if you shoot more than one bird per volley, you miss a lot. You don't see the first bird fall and most times forget to follow the second bird to the water. So you tend to miss a lot of the action unless you practice with it. So I bought a head mount - it takes less work to get full shots of the action. The other thing (if you trust your hunting buddies) is to mount it on a piece of pipe (with the rail mount) out in the water or next to the blind. I end up using the remote for that, and it works great. You can also mount it behind/above the blind. Use the remote when birds are coming in and it works great. Main thing is to get a black case for that. You should be able to tape the current one or just buy one of the matte black ones.
Main issue is that b/c of the wide angle shot, you really have to shoot them in the face to get a lot of good film...so change the view to medium.
The case is watertight. I've taken it in the ocean, in the lake, on the river, etc. Thing is awesome. The remote is waterproof as well. So no worries there.
So to answer your questions:
Rail/Stick/Head mounted Wifi- or button-controlled No major issues 1080p, med angle

If you can take the Hero 3+ back and get the non + version. The plus version has the new fish eye lense and it's great out to about 10 ft but not so great at longer distances. The non plus version has infinity focus and is better for hunting situations.
Other than that I use 720/Medium for almost everything. Mounts are up to you...whatever works for your situation. The battery life is not that good so get an extra one and use the remote to turn it on and off to conserve battery life.

Mine is cursed, if I take it I'm not going to catch a single fish or shoot a single duck. I take it off my head and I'll catch a fish or birds will start flying. I don't even take it anymore

Get the head mount, and the clamp on mount with the bendy arm (I know, that's the technical name). it looks like a chip clip attached to a bendable arm. Mounted on your head is great footage, but you better be shooting them close. use the med angle if its on your head.
The clip-on mount you can put it out in your decoys and use the remote. Just clip it to a stick or a mojo pole out in your spread. It makes for some cool close ups, but use wide angle for this.
Don't worry about the water. I took mine on a scuba trip with the original case and it did fine.

I have a Hero3+ Black and I shoot in 1080 narrow all the time. I just don't like the fish eye look. I usually put the camera behind us 30-40 feet depending on how many of us are shooting. I keep it close to the ground looking up so it catches birds higher up. You miss some of the action on the sides when in narrow but oh well. Get the extended battery you will be glad you did. Here is a short cut so you can see what it looks like. Please excuse the cursing at the bird. That was me and he did go down by the way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QudwDtSaL7w&feature=youtu.be

Does anyone have the 4? I was thinking about getting one and wondering how much better it was than the 3.

Great Videos and thanks for all the input! Sounds like ill need the head and snake mounts for sure. I like the idea of having it in the decoys.. i saw a video where a guy set one up on a bow hunt behind his feeder and i thought that was a cool perspective. I'll play with some ideas and see what works best. Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

My 2 cents: The head strap and Jaws: Flex clamp is the most used of my mounts next to a tripod mount. Hard to believe they do not give you a tripod mount with the kit. You can buy one on ebay for a few dollars. I like the open back where I can use it as I want audio where I can get it. The audio is the weakest part of the camera next to low light shooting. I have not bought one yet as I am researching it but you can buy an external mic attachment. I do not know how good they work, someone on here chime in if you have experience with the external mic. Anything less than a 32G sd card will fill up before the battery runs out of juice. A 64G is best. Need two batteries so you have a back up as with any camera. Buy a micro HDMI or USB combo cable if you want to hook it to your TV for watching back vids from the camera. This comes in handy at deer camp as you may not have your pc, or laptop in camp. I usually don't since I have my smart phone. My unit is the black so I have the gopro app on my iphone to where you can operate the camera and see what the camera is shooting. It has a 3 second delay. I use 1080 wide and med depends on the shot I am trying to get such as in the blind shooting the $%^&, or actually trying to get shot clips. I shoot continuous as if not I forget to turn the camera on, or press record when the action starts. I also like to capture as much of the hunt as I can.

I have 3 GoPros. I have a 3+ black edition that I leave on my drone, and 2 of the 3 white edition. The 3+ black has a lot more features, but the 3 white does a good job within its limits. Here is a video of a duck hunt from last week. It was shot with both cameras at 1080/30fps. The action was pretty slow. We only got 2 ducks...
