Sounds like that might be just a tad bit off....I could see 60 maybe, but not 16! Is'nt the average about 40%? I can see where a hog would have a lot of loss from the head and hide... but that still sounds a little off there 7mag.
Gotta put some lead in the air if you're going to get anything!

Sure seems lite to me. Did they charge you procesing by the hanging weight? Any sausage made? If not that could be were the majority of your weight went. Trimmings make up a fair bit of your take home weight and if you just wanted roasts and chops then they had no place for the trimmings.

Something wrong with that. When I shoot a pig, I don't even gut it. I slit the skin down the back, filet out the backstraps, continue the skin split around the hindquarters, and take them. That's all I take. I don't get any blood on me; just grease/fat.
I can guarantee that the backstarps and hams from a 150 pound pig weigh more than 16 pounds.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

Shot him behind the front schoulder went through ribs and out ribs, backstrap and chops the rest into sausage. Shouldn't have wasted any meat.

I do my best to get all the meat off I can and have never gotten 40% weight. I usually around 35%. If I shoot a 100 lb hog I get abput 35lbs of pure meat.

I took my deer in for processing last year and I got back packages of wrapped meat marked "pork". You can have it to make up your loss, LOL.
You need to talk to the processor, something is way wrong.

For you to have gotten back only 16 pounds of meat, your pig would have weighed around 35 pound live weight, not 150.
If the animal you took in went 150, you should have gotten around 65 to 75 pounds of meat. Pigs normally dress out from 45% to 50%, maybe slightly more.
If that 150 pound weight you posted was for a gutted animal, then you should have gotten between 80 or 90 pounds of meat.
AndrewR, the processor gave you extra meat.
A doe even if it went 150 live weight, will only dress out about 30% to maybe 35%.
The most you should have got back is about 50 pounds of meat and that would be on the high side.

x2
I've always used 40% as rule of thumb for deer when I'm getting jerky/steaks/and sausage mixed w/ some pork. Going way back to my FFA days I think hogs may even go a little higher percentage.
Related/unrelated, a couple of years back I dropped a deer off at a processor. They called, I picked it up. It seemed real light to me, but I didn't say anything, just thought I wouldn't be back. A week later they called and told me I needed to pickup my order. I told them I already had. Turns out, they had only given me half my boxes. Maybe the same thing happened to you....

I shot the largest hog of the season last year (400 live), and had it mounted because of the huge tusks... they had me come pick it up when ready, only for me to find a middle aged small tusked hog... "I said this isn't mine"... then two weeks later they magically found my skull and tusks and redid the mount...... I'd say 65% of taxidermist are unorganized as hell or just plain shady..

Just to clarify hunters haven is in lakeside city just north of archer city, and HHH is much better and is in archer city. I haven't delt with hunter haven and if this is how he does business I won't go there then. HHH gets my nod!
