Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Howard Leights are decent as my son has been using them for two years. Pro Ears Gold are top notch(my next purchase) The Brownells I have are pretty good for the money. My Peltors have not held up as well as I think they should have. They charged me to fix them and they are having issues again.

^^^ This first ^^^ Then this second. I own 3 of them. My high end Peltor electronic muffs went bad on the FIRST range trip. I highly do NOT recommend them.

I just use a pair of cheap browning muffs. I think they were $19. I don't shoot at public ranges very often, so I don't have to worry about not being able to take them on and off. I understand the electronic muffs for guys who shoot with a buddy, or at a loud public range as it allows you to talk more easily.

I use the sonic defenders for the run and gun shoots.

Howard Leights use triple A batteries and have an auto off function. Cheap batteries plus auto off after 4 hours. They work well and you dont have to take them off to hear people talking to you.

Thanks guys, I have Howard Leights...first time out I left them on and battery went dead. But I have another set...not sure the name but they work a lot better they're just bulky...I was really curious if anyone used the ones that fit in your ears that operated like the HL that allows you to still hear things...

I use SportEars and Peltor most of the time. All my rifles that have a cartridge carrier on the stock have a set of ear plugs in the 1st two loops closest to the bolt.

Anyone try the Radians Custom Molded ear plugs? Natchez has them for $10.
