Has anyone tried motion sensing lights such as the ones offered at Sams Club ($14) for hog hunting? When I saw them I wondered if they could be attached to feeder legs and give off enough light to shoot a hog or two.

I added a hog light to my feeder. It magnets to the bottom of the feeder and works dusk to dawn using 360 motion sensor. It uses LED's and comes on slowly. Pigs and deer don't mind it and it doesn't affect the game cam. Plenty if light to see the hogs.

got 6 cheep cellular lights set up in ovel pattern bout 3 1/2 foot off ground under timer feeder aimed at center. lazer-tag cheep scope over, lazer under. scope will gather the light. now all i need is hogs ta show up. best wishes

Yes, they can help you see something is there. Get you a red or green light to go on your gun and you're set. That or pick up one of the digital night vision scopes discussed here and you're a step ahead.

Yes it can work. We put up a motion light and covered it with red brake film to make it red. Pigs don't mind it.

Have a light on your gun, too. Sometimes the big boys don't like their shadow and will only eat at the perimeter.

I bought the solar powered ones from Harber Freight, mount on conduit about 8-10 ft off ground - works great. They have a timer on them for the length of time the light stays on, sensitivity. From the cam photos it doesn't seem to bother the hogs or deer or COONS.

Same here. I got the 60-LED versions because they've changed the electronics on their cheaper 36-LED lights. The 36-LED ones now stay on dimly all the time, and brighten up when something is detected in range. I want the light to be either ON or OFF, so that I know at a glance when something is there. Plus, I didn't want to waste battery life when nothing was around.

The white lights don't seem to bother the hogs at all.

I've tried a multitude of inexpensive lights over the years and mostly it was a waste of time and money. I've used some good quality, higher dollar feeder lights for about 3 years where you can see much better and take your shots (with scope) from the light they put off. Recently bought a couple of the "Moultrie feeder lights" at Academy for about $50 each and they are as good as my more expensive feeder lights in every way. I can put crosshairs on a hog at my 140 yard feeder with this feeder light. Not quite enough light at my 175 yard feeder though. I'll get another soon and with 2 under the farther feeder it will work fine at that distance even. Get a couple and try 'em out. Money very well spent.

I got the solar powered landscape lights at Walmart for $9 and zip tied them to feeder legs and t posts. Deer still there and pigs don't mind at all. I probably need 1-2 more for good measure but I have shot 2 hogs under them from 120 yards already.

Exactly what I did. The pigs gave gotten used to the lights.

How many hours do they last

Landscape lights will last all night after a sunny day.

I've sat as long as 6 hours and the lights stayed on.

I'm thinking I may have to invest in some sort of gradual motion light myself for hog hunting. I technically live in a subdivision (lots are over 10 acres). I cannot gun hunt, but I can bow hunt all I want. However, it borders some sudivisions with more typical 1-acre lots. As a result, the hogs I have here are extremely skittish, and have all the human actions figured out...my hog trap has been constantly baited next to the feeder for weeks on end, and the hogs are way too savvy to even try it. I bought a Kill Light a while back and mounted it under the feeder. However, it is the older model of light (not motion sensing), and the hogs will not go to that feeder when the light is on. However, I have found that the Kill Light works GREAT for raccoons...doesn't bother them one bit. Shot 3 of the furry little bandits the first night I used it.

This is an excellent product designed by a gentleman that's been hog hunting longer than I've been alive. He's got patented chip that allows this light to operate very efficiently . Great guy and is always ready to take care of his customers.
