Couple things consistent with the best duck hunts I've ever been on:
1. Bluebird not a cloud in the sky sunny day 2. 15+ mph wind 3. 35 degrees or below.
Don't know what it is, those days seem to be Mallard city. Yesterday was definitely the day in our location. Wednesday met the criteria above, today we saw about 1/3 of the Mallards and the Teal disappeared. Managed another redhead single redhead and a greenhead.

Wednesday was terrible. That blue sky killed it. I did not even see any high flying migratory birds on Wednesday. If there is light rain on Saturday then that's the day to hunt. Sunny, blue sky days suck. And just as an FYI, birds are never pushed down by a front. They are pulled down by a front. You can usually expect good hunting 1 to 2 days after the front blows through, if it is still cloudy outside. Ducks don't have thumbs, so they cannot turn on the TV to see the weather forecast. Therefore, they cannot plan a trip down ahead of the front. They can only react to the colder weather and decide to migrate south behind the leading edge of the front. . Good point

Strange..... what I'm seeing is the number of birds have dropped significantly over the last two days. Hearing the same from folks on the local hotline. One local spot was holding 50 trillion BWT last week. They're gone too.
Regarding the comment that ducks can't tell a front is rolling in due to not having Dish Network. I call BS. They don't need the weather channel. Not when they're sensitive to changes in barometric pressure.
