White river indeed. Of all the days I get one day during the week to hunt drove two hours and there's a train broken down on the tracks 2 miles from my deer blind.

Looks like a bass bed kind of. The fish will clear out an area free of silt in the gravel to lay their eggs in several fish may be using the same redd. Don't ask me where they got the name. I will fish bass off beds but you very seldom see anyone fishing trout on them. Even crossing the river upstream of them can kick up enough silt to suffocate the eggs. I target transition areas were the fish stack up moving to and from so as not to target active fish. As hard as trout pull it's amazing just a little over handling they are belly up if you don't revive them very good. That I why I have my lights and camera set up immediately next to me on the bank with the camera on remote control I can land lift take a pic and let them go in harmed.

It surprises me that they even allow fishing there this time of year.. The locals are very protective of their browns... Even though your allowed to don't keep a brown to eat.. I learned that real fast when I watched some kids do it.. they were getting some serious looks.. no reason to anyway with the insane amount of tasty rainbows in there.. I use to make the trip every year.. miss that place.

I kept one sticker rainbow at brokenbow didn't care for it to much and havnt kept one after that. Sure are fun to catch though. I have been fishing the area fish for the last nine Falls and I have yet to see anyone keep a single fish. And yes those browns are a very valuable resource they bring money from all over the world to fish for them I saw in a gas station while I was there a picture of some guy in there with one that was about five or 6 pounds just really made me sick hanging off a stringer. I fish one of the areas that they don't allow bait though it's artificial flys and lures only keeps a lot of the stringers out of there when they can't use their power bait LOL

I actually fish on the lesser-known part of the white river below table rock Lake trout fishing is just as good the crowds are fewer and there is little to no no natural reproduction they are the fish still come up and try to fake it they do take a bunch of the fish out of the river that come up to spawn into the hatchery and spawn them there though where they have a much higher success rate and they use the fry to stock all over the state

thanks for the information. I have fished the white river for years but never got into anything like what you did. Not even a single brown like those. Did you use a guide or float on your own? I am assuming that you floated the river.

No actually wadded The couple of night that they were generating power made it a little isolated on where you could fish but was still able to catch a bunch offish every night I have actually never hired a guide. I just went up there and learn the particular structure river like the back of my hand over the years I could probably make a living guiding up there. Have yet to have a bad trip and this time of year is absolutely beautiful up there.

Very nice Browns Haven't fished the White in over 40 years when we lived in Harrison, good to see it still is producing.

Yep it is still kicking them out. Well to top off my vacation fishing last week as I had stated earlier I was headed to the lease and got stopped by a train broke down right before my lease it finally got moved out of the way my feeder was covered up this morning with deer but I could not get into a shot. Made a great stalk but the deer pushed out the other way into the wind. So I took a nap in my truck woke up at 3 o'clock jumped back into my tree at 3:05 I went and situated my feet at 3:07 to a big doe coming in like she had heard a Dinnerbell came in broadside at 15 yards knocked her down and I was home by dark. I would have waited around to see what happened but I absolutely had had no intentions on sticking around until dark. I did hate though to drive two hours for a wasted trip because of a train. Been a really good ten days. Not often in Texas we have a chance to let a deer hang for a little bit. I may not keep any trout but I've got meat in the freezer :-)
