I know the feeling of taking a big buck on family land. I've taken bigger deer elsewhere, but the big 8 I got on our family ranch is my favorite trophy. I doubt that will ever change. Congrats on the great buck!!!

Congrats! This story hits home for me. I'm in a similar situation. I hunt in Anderson County as well on my grandparent's 29 acres. I have had my eyes on one good eight point for two years now. AR's have really helped with this particular buck. I saw him youth weekend and my son wouldn't shoot him. I told him to take him, He said "Dad, thats your buck! I'm not shooting him!" I would have been just as happy had my boy shot him but he would not raise his gun. I hope to have the same success you had this season. Great story and congrats again!

Thanks for all of the compliments. I'm still on cloud 9. It looks like there are a few other hunters who have taken great bucks in East Tx. this year so far. I'm really excited seeing all of the succes in the Piney Woods this season and hope it keeps producing.
