My wife got her chance at a turkey today and was able to get a hen. This is the first large game animal she has taken and I was very proud of her patience and ability to make the shot. It didn't come easy, right as we were leaving and were out of the blind with our gear on the ground and about to zip the door, here they came 50 yards away cresting a oak covered hill. We rush inside and I ready her into position to get her release back on and knock an arrow to prepare for the shot. She tells me she doesn't have an arrow, I look through the open door of the blind and see her arrows in a quiver by her pack 10+ feet out side the blind. I notice my pack and quiver is only 6 feet or so away outside the blind. By this time the birds add around the feeder from 20-30 yards. As quietly as possible I belly crawl to my pack and hand her one of my arrows and tell her adjust her pin and wait for one to get very close. She knocks it and waits patiently for a big hen to seperate from the flock and come to about 15 or so yards. I hear the shot hit solid as I remained laying prone. I jump up to see a center shot turkey with arrow running up the hill. I take off after her, and as I cross the hill and lost sight of her, I did a double take sweeping my eyes across the ground and there was her bird dead and motionless just to my left. A lot of luck was had, but a great memory made.

Congratulation to the young lady on the first. Great job with a bow. The Smile tells she is hooked

Awesome!!!! Congrats on her first kill. That's gonna be some good eating.
It's the time spent in God's creation with family and friends making memories that counts.
