Okay but I tried to give you an out Nav did not weigh his buck but guessed him to be 180 live weight (so I trust him) I weighed my buck at 139 lbs field dressed ( I use 16% off of live weight to get dressed weight) so he was around 166 lbs live weight. So you win that one..I think Score- Nav's buck was 144 5/8 by his score Mine grossed 139 4/8 by my score. You did not guess at first but I guess I will give it to you Spread- Nav's buck was 13 6/8" Mine was 14 2/8". You said Nav's buck was wider. I even PM'd you the dressed weight as a hint that the buck was even bigger bodied than I thought he was. I had thought he was just over 13" looking at the pics since I had no idea what he weighed. I would have bet Nav's buck was wider also So double up on the extra cases when you head this way

I'll buy 4 cases via a 1/2 an inch any day I almost went in that direction because of his weight, but ears are ears they don't change with body fat. Nav's tines angle so far inward it's easy to miss judge it. I rolled the dice I lost.

Nav's tines angle so far inward it's easy to miss judge it. I rolled the dice I lost. I knew you would revert back to the body/ear size of these bucks and the spread would get you. But you know as well as I do that you can get ranges of ear width in any given herd. I was told to expect 115-120 lb dressed weights on mature bucks here. So that is what I was expecting. I knew I was off on that weight when I was trying to drag him by myself up and over the side of the Ranger. I was really shocked at the weight since I had seen him next to a couple of other bucks and he did not look bigger than them at all. One of those bucks I would like to have seen raised from a fawn to maturity on feed to see if it would have helped him out. He put on about 16" from last year to this year using the one shed I was lucky to find to guess his score from. It was all in fun.

Fact that both spreads are so close with a east tx deer that clearly looks smaller weight and score wise shows I was on the right track paying attention to location and restocking efforts... But I still lost by a few 1/8's I'll pay the piper!! With that said if you keep this up I'm going to have to call in a few favors from a couple distributors I know

Pictures and guessing don't give you much success. I posted regular camera pics so it was better than if I had posted TC pics. But still a difficult call. I did both of the threads to show just how difficult guessing spreads in AR counties can be. I had good pics of the buck I killed plus a shed from last year. That and the body weights I was told made it a difficult call but after seeing him at less than 30 yards I felt better. With Nav's buck I would have needed to sit and study him a while before trying to shoot him. If I had to guess from Nav's pics I would have said he is not wide enough.

Hey STX...which one of us was closer when he was still alive Should Bobo just bring your winnings to me Depends on which of my guesses on score range you use. IIRC you waffled down and I have always kept my ranges the same

IIRC you said 137 then waffled down when I said 134 and told you beam length from the previous year. My ranges have always been 132 -138 with 78-82 on frame and 54-56 on tines. But I am always low on the deer I score where I hunt so I took the lower end. Much better outcome. He had 57.3 on tines and 82.1 on frame.

I posted 134 which is what I felt comfortable he would score on the PM. You are correct about the upper 130's to low 140's guess, I had forgotten you said that high. I just remember you waffled down some.

After he killed him it made sense when you look at how's his tines create the illusion since they angle way in. And yours do straight up. Toss in the glare from IR and you get a lot of questioning. I think yall need to measure ears,
