Not deer or pigs, stick with me here...

I can't get out to my land to hunt until Sunday morning now. Tomorrow after work, I'm driving out and corning the hell out of a couple of roads as well as my tree line. I have no delusions of getting RayRay at this point, but there are a couple of spikes I'd like to pop and the hogs have been heavy lately.

The total road I'll be corning will be roughly 800 yards worth, broken into 2 legs that meet at my tripod on the woods line. The woods line I'll be corning will be roughly 300 yards. I'm planning on putting out quite a bit.

How long do you think it'll take the deer/hogs to completely clean up all that corn? I'm in a fairly highly populated area, but there are also 4 feeders running within about 1000 yards of this that they hit regularly. I have about 90 acres of uncut Johnson grass bordering me that the deer have been bedding down in at night that connects to both roads, so I'm fairly confident they'll find the corn pretty dang quick.

Think there will be a kernel left by Sunday a.m. if I throw it Thursday around 6? It's going to be at least 150 lbs. I don't really have any options, just wanted to see if everyone thinks I'm SOL or in business.

That many days out the answer is no there won't be any left. Birds eat also.
Anyway throw it out, and make it a little harder for them by throwing around the bushes cactuses, fallen branches, or anywhere that it makes it not so easy to pick up.
Scattering it out also makes it harder for the hogs, and they lose interest if it's not all piled up buffet style for them.
If you've got turkeys, they are a vacuum cleaners with feathers so you can forget it if you have them.
I'd do what I described above and they will return looking for something.

By midnight the first night will be my guess with your numbers. cheers I know a guy who used to put out 2000# of corn on the roads on a LF ranch in Maverick County every Friday and by Sunday it was gone.

If you scatter it out a long ways and don't put it in piles you should have a little left. Make the deer work to find it and get it. As already stated throw some in weeds and high grass.

Have turkeys, but not many. No cactus, this is an hour from Houston.

I know they're capable of eating it all quickly, was just wondering if spreading it out like crazy would give me a little time. Like maybe they'd clean up 1 road but not the other.

May sound like a dumb question, but I don't do this very often. Usually just go and sit and see what's moving.

Not dumb at all.
Example: I haven't fed the sendero's at all since last deer season.
First day of the bow season I fed the sendero like I did last time I hunted last year and before I got settled into the blind the deer were already out on the corn.
Feed the way you want, scatter it though, and feed before daylight the morning you hunt and you'll have deer out there.....Bet on it!

Can you throw out some more on Sunday morning on the way to your stand? If thursdays corn is all gone then maybe the new stuff will bring them back.

Will definitely throw quite a bit out en route to the stand Sunday a.m.

Thanks for the responses.

Most of what you put out tomorrow will be gone, especially with hogs present. I would still do it and make sure it is spread well. Then on your way to the stand spread some more. When I hunted a high density place with senderos, they would come out as soon as they heard the corn getting spread and you could put 100#s a day out and very little would make it to the next day, typically just a kernal here and there but it gets them back on it.

On our place we have quite a few deer, a lot of hogs, plenty of turkeys, not to mention aoudad and red deer and all the little critters. My blind has what I would call the huntable area (the area where I am able to see animals that I am able to take a shot at) of about 5-6 acres. When I go up for just a weekend hunt I will spread out a 50# bag of corn evenly through my huntable area. If I spread it out Friday evening when I get to the ranch, there are still a few kernels around after the morning hunt on Sunday. I would think if you spread 150# out away from a feeder on Thursday, there would still be a little bit left, or would have been some left on Saturday. If you corn it again pretty heavy Sunday morning, I think they would be coming back looking for it again.

Either way...it can't hurt!

Just throw it now it'll be gone quick but gets them thinking about when you're coming back. Throw some on the way to stand, they'll be there.
