I decided to stop on the way to Colorado elk hunting to give my new Horizon Firearms 22 Creedmoor a little break-in on coyotes. Seems to be good although on the smaller coyotes at bad angles it blew them up pretty bad so it's definitely not a Bobcat fur saver but that's not what I got it for.I am loading 75gr AMaxes at around 3400fps so it puts them down with authority when hit solid. Rolled in right at dark and got two right by the camp.I took this picture of them as I left the next day at lunch. First stand next morning called three got two.A little rusty since I have not hunted since last March and had to shoot one twice and took it's head off on the second shot thus the hidden head to keep the picture cleaner. Next stand was crazy but to keep the story short I called 4 and ended up with two after missing a 100 yard chip shot I got one at 309 yards and the other at 368. Next stand I got a big male sneaking in so I took him at 182 yards when he stopped to check things out. I had to get on the road but hit one spot on the way back to grab my stuff at camp and rolled up another double one at 118 yards and the other bugging out at just over 300 yards. Out of the nine 4 were YOY and the other 5 were adults. Did not notice any mange either which is good. My elk hunt while fun was not as fruitful. Saw dozens of Moose and antelope but no elk. Weather was warm and sunny so not conducive to lots of movement.

I must say, I don't know a damn thing about the 22 creed. But I am extremely intrigued! Is this just a wildcat round or does anyone make a production rifle chambered in it?

Around these parts talk to Derrick at Horizon Firearms. There are no production rifles made but you can get custom made ammo from Copper Creek and if you reload you have a couple of routes to go. I have used 6mmCreedmoor brass from GAP necked down and have simply loaded 22-250 brass and fire-formed to my chamber but the necks are a little shorter. It's just a hot-rod 22 caliber best used with fast twist barrel shooting heavy for caliber bullets for varmint up to mid-size thin skinned game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Since the 6.5 Creedmore is a necked up 22-250 AI, then a 22 Creedmore should therefore be right back to being a 22-250 AI (or very close to it). Ought to work just great on varmints. I assume the twist is a good bit faster than std 1 in 14 of the standard 22-250.

The 6.5 Creedmoor is a necked down 30 TC just like the 260 is a necked down 308. This case is better than the 22-250AI, Not just a hair faster but has longer neck and fatter case for better feeding and fit in the mag box.

Have you looked at Huntertown arms suppressors... relatively good priced and can take them apart and clean them. They're definately worth the look and if something does happen to mess up on the suppressor as long as the registered part isn't damaged beyond repair you don't have to go through the whole process of getting a new one, they'll replace the damaged parts and send it back. It's the brand i have and i love it. Also, would a 22 creedmoor bullet go through a 5.56 can? and where can i find a 22 creedmoor? thanks Nathan

Also, would a 22 creedmoor bullet go through a 5.56 can? and where can i find a 22 creedmoor? thanks Nathan A 22 Creedmoor shoots a .224 caliber bullet. A 5.56 shoots a .224 caliber Bullet. A .223 shoots a .224 caliber Bullet. So the answer to your Question is Yes.

Nice job Mr. Stroud stacking them up like fire wood as always...lol
Derrick builds some fantastic rifles and the 22 Creedmoor looks to be a hit so far.

A .223 shoots a .224 caliber Bullet. So the answer to your Question is Yes. I would not nessasarily agree with that line of logic. I was told that the higher pressures generated by cartridges such as 220 Swift 22/243 22 Creedmoor would not be suitable for most 22cailber Suppressors and to go to 30 cals That came from the manufacturer so you may want to verify before jumping in.
