for the last 45 days I have been reading little snippets here and there about this El Nino pattern that will be giving Texas more moisture and we would have a wetter than usual winter
Where is it?

Not on my place Our's either. Unless something change's, I figure in 5 years, Lake Lavon will be nothing more than a dust bowl.

Winter doesn't officially start until December, we are still in the Fall part of the year.

Not here either. I thought they said the last half of September was going to give us some goo rain, didn't happen, now I hear it's going to be a colder winter than normal.
Guess they don't know what to predict.

BTW, this hasn't stopped developers from building massive subdivisions around here, with no consequences, yet. They should be required to add rainwater harvesting systems to houses they build.

Not on my place I could've sworn it started in May. Wettest Summer the area elderly recall seeing in their lifetimes. I have had 16" year to date. 10.5" of that was in May and June. Since first week of July I have had less than 3" total in about 12 rain showers. It looks like August here with the dry Sept. Trees and brush are stressing now. Little rain shower 9 days ago(.6" to .8") helped but the heat is working against it now.

I hope I'm wrong as well. The growth around us and amount of irrigation systems the developer's are putting in, is over whelming. I know alot of our water is recycled. Even black water. Irregardless, the waste far exceed's what is being replenished. Our member's in SE TX and all along the gulf coast will hate me for this, but we need a damn/slow moving/heavy dumping tropical depression to work it's way in, and sit on top of TX. For a week.

I swear he looks like a jack [censored] eating a prickly pear I knew Sam's parents, met them in the early 1970's. I met Sam later, I think it was the late 80's or early 90's or 90's, he was still peddling basketballs...

In all my driving over the past cpl months I must say that we're sitting pretty..and I concur with you about the Canadian looking lush and huntable. We got several weeks from May-June with 10"+ of rain, and a cpl rains since planting that produced 1.5-2.5". More on the way tomorrow.

It has been green around Guthrie for the last 3 yrs now and this year it was really green. It rained on my trip to Kansas the day before I went thru and then a week later the day before I came home.

This year the playa lakes in the Lubbock area have water in them, better than the last couple of years.

The El Nino chances started out at 80% and the odds are still dropping.

Look at climate.gov. It has a 65% chance and they say(assuming it happens) that it should start in October or November. But, they also say it will be a weak one.
