But there building it in league city. Everyone knows the yuppie outdoorsmen live south of Houston while the north side is where the avid outdoorsmen are

I agree. They might just as well build it in New York City. I frequent both places just as often. No, I actually visit New York more often than League City.

Their non compete must be up for that region... I'd have to put it in Winnie or just North of New Caney where the new Amusement park is going in.

I doubt this will be the only Houston store they have. Don't know why they would have chosen League City with BPS up the road in Pearland. I would imagine that Cabelas will eventually open one up in the Woodlands like they did in Allen.

All those "yuppie outdoorsmen" strategically live an hour closer to Galveston than you north-siders

Seems like there are a whole lot more "yuppies" in the Woodlands/Cypress area than in League city

I hope they take the one in buda. Cabelas = Suck. Unless you need camo clothing, ice fishing gear, or kettle corn.

I doubt this will be the only Houston store they have. Don't know why they would have chosen League City with BPS up the road in Pearland. I would imagine that Cabelas will eventually open one up in the Woodlands like they did in Allen. For the people in Clear Lake, League City and Galveston, that BPS on 288 might as well be on the other side of the world. From my house in Clear Lake, it's easily 45 minutes and $5 worth of toll roads to get there. My guess is that they are trying to split the difference between the Clear Lake/South Houston folks and the Galveston folks. Other than Academy, there isn't anything down this way and there is a huge market for an outdoor superstore.
Thanks, Rich

West side of Houston is where they should be. On the way to South Texas and the Hill Country. I'd rather drive to Buda than to League City.

It's going to be closer than the one in Buda so I'm happy! Cabelas over BPS or Gander Mtn any day!

League City is the perfect place for Cabelas! It's about time they came to the Houston area. Probably take a year or more to build, I guess?

I am looking forward to the Cabelas, its not too far for a weekend trip. Academy is still close to my house for most of my needs and I hit bass pro frequently, but its always nice to have options.

There is a BPS on W and SW side of Houston.. Gander Mountain on N and NW side as well.. South side has none so it does make sense for Cabelas ... Academy is peppered all over town ..

can't wait for Cabelas. BPS is okay. Academy is what it is. Gander is terrible and overpriced. I really don't get how they stay in business.

I wonder where all he support for these new stores is coming from. I heard this morning that a new Gander Mtn is opening in Fort Worth. Sooner or later the market will be over saturated and the shake out will begin. It might be good for the consumer.
