Your duck gun will be fine as long as your full choke holds a good tight patern. If not you may look into one of the turkey chokes.Calls.....You have to decide what you like.I use mouth, friction and some times a box call.Shot size...I like #5s in a turkey load.If ya have a roost on your place or close find where the birds go when they fly down.Set up between the roost and where they are headed. If no roost find thier strut zones, more than likley this will be on the edge of a open area close to cover.A hen decoy and sometimes a jake decoy is needed.Good camo is needed as they have great eye sight.Get out and scout before season and just see where the birds are and what your options are on a set up.Turkey hunting is alot of learn as you go.The birds will teach you alot.If ya screw one off ya know not to do what ever it was that caused the bird to flake out on ya.Don't over call.Let the bird have time to find you if he goes silent.Seen this alot the spring before last.On a side note I make it a habit not to hunt a feeder.Ya kill one under the feeder and there are more with him they woun't be back.Same on a roost.

Get out in the woods and look for birds or signs of birds.Thier roost (if you have one on your place) will be in one of the taller trees more than not a hardwood.Look around under some of these trees and if it is a roost you will find feathers and turkey poo. Come back at dawn hide and watch to see if they are still using it.Get out in the woods with a call.See if you can get any birds to talk to ya and tell ya were they are but DON'T call them all the way in.The strut zones will start showing up early spring around the edges of clearings or fields. It will be a area a bird struts every day.Look for wing drag marks in the dirt, again feathers and turkey poo.Drive the roads around your lease early morning and late afternoon looking for birds.

Thanks for the Info Fourtrax.....I may send you some PM's at some point if I have questions.
7mag, If you are going to bash me for my love on the Mnt. Lion that is fine. Again, I WOULD NOT shoot one. However, atleast be clever or funny about it....
Predator Buster, REALLY? "LOL" my little sister has already grown outta the gay abbreviations, its time to move to the training bras and using the smilly faces.....
I do however respect the fact that yall are not going to let me live this down....SOMEDAY someone else will agree with me.

I made a post about 2 months ago that I wouldn't shoot a mountain lion because of the population size. Since then everyone assumes I am a life long member of PETA or Greenpeace.

Get a mountain lion call. You can usually find the roost with one of these then hit it with a crow call. Last but not least hit it with a yelp and that should get em to ya.

UNT if you are going to be hunting by yourself I would try and master the mouth call...Hands free when it's time to shoot them in the face.
