First year hunting deer in Texas so please dont bash to much. With the way the counties work some can take 2 buck and some three. But what is you hunt 2 in one county and 1 in another?

Yes you can do that if the counties allow. Three buck max I believe, based on tags, and 5 deer total.

What do you mean if counties allow. Are you saying if all the counties are a two buck county you still could not get 3 bucks?

Correct. If I remember correctly, the tags are for three antlered wt deer, and 2 other wt deer (antler less).
So, even if you hunt in two 2 buck counties, you can only take three total, including spikes/non-branched.
I may be wrong there though...my license is out in the garage and my team is playing football on tv, so I being lazy.

Honestly I would go talk to me a game warden, because depending on how much you think about it the more it gets complicated if you hunt multiple counties and/or zones. I have only hunted 1 county at a time.
I eat everything I kill and I am to fat to be a bad hunter.

Commercial break I went and looked at my License, it has 5 WT deer tags, 3 are antler-less or buck, and 2 are antler less only. The deer log on the back says the same thing.
So you only get three bucks total, combining multiple counties and spikes/non-branched too.

Ok here is what I have land to hunt in 2 counties and have taken 1 buck in one of the counties archery opening day. So I have 2 more buck tags so that is why I am trying to figure this tag thing out.

ok, you are wrong. look at the tags you have left on your license. unless it is different from mine, only one of the remaining WT deer tags will say anterless or buck, and the other two say antlerless only (doe). of course I am assuming you tagged your bucks with the proper tags to begin with and didn't tag them with a doe tag. Then when you fill out the WT deer log on the back of the license, it shows 5 slots, 2 are antlerless only, and three are either antlerless or buck. You should have filled out the log with the two bucks in the buck lines, leaving one more buck and two which are antlerless only.
So, you took two bucks in each county opening weekend bow. You only have one more buck. if you are in county which allows more than one with greater than 13 inch spread (non-AR) then you can take one more of those. if you are in a AR county, then you can ONLY take one more spike or unbranched buck. You can always take three doe to finish out your license.
The county antler restrictiosn have nothing to do with WT tags on your license. You only get 5 WT deer tags per year, three are buck or doe, and two are doe ONLY. It says it right on the tag. Look at your license.

IF you have 2 more buck tags, then you mis-tagged one of your bucks. The license only comes with three buck tags. You should only have one buck tag left on your license. I think you are confusing country antler restrictions and license tags. Unless you are MLD or other special program, your license is the same as mine, and I confirmed this a few minutes ago...

You are mis-reading what he is saying. He has only killed one buck so far. Thus, with 2 remaining buck tags. It used to be, the 3rd buck had to come from a county with a 3 buck limit. Not sure about it now. Haven't read up on the regs in a while. I hunt 2 different counties myself, but don't worry about it. One buck is hard enough, let alone 2. Three bucks, might as well forget about it!!!

If and when you get ticketed by the game warden, be sure and tell him it's all okay because you got your info on the internet, because we all know it has to be true.

Well for one it is a question. I thought after being on here for a few years this was a place to ask questions. It sounds like it is not a cut and dry regulation. I do not need to shoot 3 bucks. It was a question I was wondering since I have been able to finally hunt this year in Texas.

Both counties are 2 buck counties. And yes I know that does not mean 4 bucks. LOL I have no reason to take 3 bucks like I said. But one of the properties I am hunting I seen 7 8 points yesterday just walking around so that got me thinking about how the whole tag thing really works.
