The manufacturer, Sierra, recommends against using MK's for hunting. That's good enough for me.
IMO, there are enough accurate bullets on the market that are DESIGNED for hunting...no need to use one that is not designed with hunting in mind.

What other bullets have you tried? An 11.25" twist is pretty close to normal for 308"s, so there should be a lot of bullets to chose from.
Since your rifle likes Sierra's, how about the 165gr HPBT GameKing. The 180gr SBT GameKing is also a good hunting bullet at 308 velocities, as is the 165gr SBT GameKing.

i've tried alot of stuff from 147 gr surplus to 180 gr remington psp's. winchester ballistic silvertips in 168gr shot the best, at a little over 1 inch for 5 shots at 100. the SMK's in 175 are right at .3 at 100. the SMK's in 168 were at aroung .75 at 100. i dont know if you're familiar with the rem 700 stainless speciar 5r milspec, but it's made for the m118lr stuff, wich is 175 gr smk's

Some get the thrill of the hunt from shooting at long distances,
others when they draw their intended target in real close...
Sierra makes their recommendation with the bullets ability to take prey/predators humanely, unless you shoot each and every one in the Medulla Oblongata.

I don't with match grade bullets...
I may be a little anal retentive but, I pick my bullets for their intended purpose..expolsive or deep penetrating, controlled expansion.

Never tried them myself, but Berger VLD's (very low drag) are match-grade bullets, and Berger claims they are good for hunting, too.
If you haven't tried the 180gr Sierra GameKing, it would be worth a shot...generally pretty dang accurate IME, and would prob be cheaper than the Bergers.

Try the 165g or 180g Gamekings from Sierra. Winchester silvertips are a hunting bullet. They're not meant to give match bullet accuracy. The Gamekings will be much more accurate.

Try the Hornady A-max. They are a very accurate bullet and are meant for hunting but have a longer profile like the BTHP match bullets, except they have a polymer tip where the hollowpoint section would be. This aids in expansion. I use them in my .30-06 with RL-19 and they shoot around 3000 fps and routinely shoot 3/4 inch.
Another thing to think about is that one certain powder may not do well with a certain bullet. Don't give up on a bullet until you have tried a couple different powders. In any given book there will be a load that says "Most accurate load" or something along those lines. That load is not necessarily going to be the most accurate for your rifle. In fact, it probably won't be. Just keep experimenting.
At 400 yds 1 moa = 4 inches, 1 1/2 moa = 6 inches, and 2 moa = 8 inches. As long as your rifle is shooting under 1 1/2 moa you should be fine to 400 yds. The vitals of a coyote, I believe, are about 5-6 inches.
