Are there any tricks to setting them up, other than hanging it on a tree and putting batteries in it? Finally got a pair yesterday and will be putting them out this weekend. Can't wait to see the results!

It's best to have it pointed South if possible to minimize the suns glare on the pictures.

It all depends on the type of camera you have. I like double pictures every five minutes of motion. No videos. Depend on trigger spead. Make sure all grass, branches are removed from area, wind movement will trigger shots, make sure you have a solid object to secure to, again movement will trigger. Place between 3 ft and 4 ft off ground and a distance away from feeder, don't want right on top, depending on the sensitivity of your camera.

I hadn't thought about grass triggering it. We have KR and broomweed, I may have to mow the area I have in mind. One is for sure facing south and I think I have a good oak tree for that one. Camera has 100ft range. I plan to hang and test them Friday morning and then check them late Sunday before I leave and see what I've got-that will give me a chance to make adjustments.
Will cows bother them, in your experience? I may need to get a box for them.

Without a laptop, what can I use to view the cards without taking them to the house? These are Stealth Cam G42s. SD cards

Thanks, Brandon! I have an iPhone and will get that adapter, and will carry my Canon as a backup.

[/quote] Will cows bother them, in your experience? I may need to get a box for them. Both deer and cows are curious about things in their environment. We have nose pictures of both. Trees seem to provide enough protection against any serious problems but the cameras we put on T-Posts require additional posts placed to the left and right creating a triangle to keep the cows from "re-aiming" the camera
