I am going on an elk hunt in Montana in several weeks and looking for some good rain gear that is camo and lightweight that I can carry in my pack and put on over my clothing - any ideas?

Frog toggs suck in any humidity and if your walking around. They don't breath.
Kuiu, first lite, cabelas instinct, kryptek.... In that order.
If it doesn't have pit zips don't by it.

TLk if you don't want to spend a fortune(understandable)
Look at some of the Columbia PFG and PHG stuff. Not most breathable but better then frogtoggs. Shadow storm pants are on sale for 50. And the grey men's evaporation jacket is a good jacket, but buy big cause you will layer.
Also don't be afraid to wear solid colors

Technically it was your Ford, that you drove daily and it carried your Kuiu. If you had bought Frogg Toggs you might still be driving it...

Your best gear late season is leg gaitors. Kuiu or mountain hard wear pinnical stretch xt. The mountain hard ware run really big sizing wise order a size down. If your large order medium
Actually I've got a x-large kuiu I sale you. I bought large this year and fit was much better for me.

Montana? I'd go with cheap and lite, and FrogTogs fill the bill. SE Alaska, Olympic Peninsula, and such? That's where you need the serious stuff like Helly Hansen, Impertech, and similar.

I understand - will the frogtogs hold up when walking through brush, etc.?? Weather where we are going should not be too horrible - at 8900 feet in early November - near Yellowstone

All I ever used until about 1990 or 1995 was an old military surplus poncho. Besides getting rain gear put a 55 gallon plastic trash bag in your pack, always carry it. Because there will be times that there was no rain in the forecast and the rain gear is at camp and you will need it. It can also makes a quick emergency shelter and for other emergencies. Don't forget a 50 foot hank of paracord, a bright color like pink that can be seen from the air.
