This was one of the biggest bucks on our place last year. I had a lot of pictures of him, and had a couple of short encounters with him that never resulted in a shot being fired. I have been running cameras since August, and he hadn't shown up until this past week. I had pictures of him in March and he had broken a couple tines off, along with an ear hanging low. I could tell he was injured. I was worried he was dead. Here he is healthy, early last season: Here he is late in the season, notice the ear hanging low and the spot below his right eye, looks like he was injured during a fight and it got infected. Now, I got these pictures this week. His overall frame is not near as impressive as last year, with his left side being considerably weaker, but he has grown a pretty wicked drop tine. You can also see a swollen lump on the right side of his face where the injury has healed. Now, all I have to do is hope he doesn't break that nasty drop tine off and someone on our lease can ground check him! Anyone want to take a guess at a score?
If ducks had horns I'd probably be a duck hunter. I am a horrible deer hunter. Probably the worst. Ever.

Around low 140's with that droptine. I would think he is a 7 yrs old this year since he looked like a 6 yr old last year. Neat looking buck.

He's got character for sure. I hope I get a chance at him. It looks like that drop comes straight out of the base. Would that give him another mass measurement? I don't know how to score something like that, other than adding the length of that tine.

I don't know how to score something like that, other than adding the length of that tine. It would get the same mass measurements as if it weren't there, 4 per side. That drop would be scored a as NT point.

I was thinking mid 130's easy plus the drop, awesome looking buck and good to see that he's healthy...and that he is still around. good luck with him
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

if he hurt that antler bud during a fight he'll never be the same, but, he could get freaky on ya next year. i'd give him one more year. it looks like last year was his prime year, but his genetics are good…i'd keep him around for the sake of management. he's pretty identifiable

The swollen spot on his face looks like it maybe a tooth problem. The ear hanging low could be anything from an insect, to dust being blown in there and just causing it to feel bad.

I'd take him this year. Don't think he will do much better, and will start to decline, or could end up being coyote food.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

He is definitely on the hit list. I really don't see him breaking 140", but I'll hope he does. If you will look at the picture on 2/3, you can see a spot below his right eye that looks to be some sort of sore or scab. That is why I think he had an injury there that caused the lump. Guess I'll have to ground check him and see what I find! I'm excited about hunting him no matter what it is.
