This is the buck I am chasing but not catching. He's never been a deer that I thought would score much, but he's very unique with both main beams being split and some palmation.

What would you guys guess this fellow would score if he ever decided to stop completely humiliating me as a hunter? 11 scoreable points, down 1 from last year. His spread and tine length improved significantly, but his mass seems to have dropped.

Low to mid 140's depending on what is a mainbeam on both sides. It could change mass measurements a bit.

He's been hitting estrous wicks around 2 in the morning.

stxranchman brought up a good point that he likely isn't living at my place like he does all summer but is swinging by. Those pics at night were a week ago and I haven't checked since.

To heck with score, that's a unique buck right there. Anybody would be proud.

He stayed completely gone from September 17 to October 7 and then showed up the day I hung the estrous wicks. Or the night, rather. Yeah, I'm praying he makes a mistake.

My first thought was 150 as well. Those split beams are going to rack up some inches.

I will be honest, I can see it but it will depend on how it is measured. I think the initial beams are going to be on the short side and how the mass is measured will make a big difference on score.

You also have to consider the county this buck is in and the average body size on an adult deer. That may be fooling a lot of people.

I'd have to see him on the ground, but these bucks are typically on the smaller side as far as bodies go. Knowing that, it's more likely he'll be smaller than he appears than bigger, kinda like a hill country buck.

I say "typically" because some dude a mile away from me shot a hoss last year that looked like a cow and would have been big bodied anywhere in the state.

Don't know his score but if he showed up at my feeder he wouldn't leave.

WELL over 150.

Two reasons. Double mains will get you lots more gross inches than you think. AND, I've been underscoring every buck this year by 5 to 15 inches.

Drop him and prove me right.

Of course, it would be a much better trophy if it were behind a HF. But hey, they are where they are.

Unfortunately, RayRay's skills as a deer wanting to survive > my skills as a hunter.

Hope I dumb luck into him, though. Going tonight and tomorrow to try again.
