I am new to reloading, and I was hoping to find a good Dallas shop or two that carries components. Does anyone have any recommendations? Powder and primers are my main things right now. I'd prefer not to pay the hazardous shipping charge ($20 + an additional $10) if I can pick it up local. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Currently 308, 30.06, and 264. Looking for some H4350 and primers. I have a few magnum primers but need some standard.

Cabelas and Bass Pro both carry components, Cabelas has a much wider selection though. Gander Mountain also carries some, but has a much more limited selection.

Thanks! I stopped by BPS today, and they were out of everything I was looking for. I will give Cabelas a call tomorrow. If they have what I need it is worth the drive. I'd like to try and find a good local (non-chain) shop too if possible.

Or McClelland's on Centerville Rd in East Dallas. They usually have a pretty good inventory. But they do run an inventory clearence sale at the end of the year. So you might have to wait on them to re-stock.

Just to follow up... I ended up at SPS Guns. They were the closest to me, and when I called they had everything I needed in stock. SPS gets a big from me. They had everything I needed on the shelf, and I even found a few things I didn't expect. Great folks in there. Thanks once more for all of the suggestions. I have saved them all, and may end up at another place if SPS ever doesn't have what I need.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm needing some supplies and don't really want to deal with Gun Master in Plano, anymore.

I will miss them also. Seems the had more of the components I used also, not to mention their prices were a little cheaper.

sportsman warehouse is supposedly looking into opening another store in the dfw area! lewisville location was supposed to be developed and all the roads were supposed to be changed up----that never happened thanks lewisville!! that store is the best, especially if you are into reloading, hopefully this will come true in the near future! til then if you are headed south for anything there are sportsman warehouse stores in round rock and san antonio

If you are close to SPS - aka Belt Line & Josey in Carrollton - while you are that direction be sure to go by Doc's. 1 Block east of Stemmons off the Sandy Lake exit. 1600 Whitlock, 972-245-2955. I bought some Fed 215 LR Mag primers in there last Friday for $4.25 a 100ct, and they were lots cheaper of course by the K. Old white frame house on the N West corner of Whitlock & Sandy Lake/Keller Springs @ the RR track and west of the water plant, 1 exit south of the GWBush. Ron OBTW HALLELUJAH CHILRUNS!!!! on Sportsmans Warehouse coming back to Dallas...got any possible details? like when/where???? WC

no details as of yet! went on SW website and posted email voicing my anger at the closing of the greatest outdoor store we had around here and listed some possible areas east of dallas that are available and alot easier to access than the lewisville location. the next day when i woke up had a voicemail from the CEO of SW which stated they were not giving up on the dfw area and would be looking into another store around here when the economy settles down a bit!! hopefully this will happen, that store was awesome, especially for reloaders! keep your fingers crossed, maybe everybody on this forum needs to send an email?

I was talking to my father-in-law last night about powders and bullets. We were looking online and found some good prices on both. I agree the cost of shipping and the hazmat fee is a lot but we talked and we are going to get together and order some in the future. Our understanding is that the fee is applied once per order so if you go together and purchase in bulk it really is not that bad.

Thanks, WileyCoyote. I know Doc's very well. He is the only smith that touches my stuff. I checked with him when I was looking for my components, and he had some of it but not all. I was hoping to do everything in one swoop if possible. SPS ended up having it all then some. Thanks again for the recommendation. Doc's is a great place!
