Hello All,
I know this has been touched on before, but I wanted to ask a specific question. I want to run down after work and bow hunt, then stay into the night and use my rifle to hog hunt. I prefer not to go back to the truck to switch weapons. What is some thoughts around this? I have move hogs than deer but I don't want to use my bow at night, I have no mounted lights on it like I do my rifle and I don't have any confidence in it either.
Thanks for any input.

They just changed the laws this year to where you can legally carry a firearm with you during the archery only season. Go for it!

Interesting. Do you have any link to that new law?

Scroll down in this paragraph and you can read it. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/newsmedia/releases/?req=20140328b"In addition, a provision prohibiting possession of firearms while hunting deer or turkey during an open archery season has been removed. Lawful archery equipment remains the only means authorized to take deer or turkey during archery season."

This is good news! I guess I need to pay attention a little more because last weekend I saw the biggest hog I've seen in some time, and he was way out of range of my bow, but had I had my rifle he would have taken a dirt nap. I'll have it with me from now on! Thanks for the link!

It's about time I've always carried my 9mm because it's my only concealable handgun and since I have a CHL I could carry concealed but I'd much rather have my 1911 on my side it's much more accurate and powerful, I still doubt I could juggle my bow and rifle though but I might give it a try sometime.

I usually hunt from a popup so a slinged rifle walking to and from the blind wouldn't be all that bothersome.
