Had a doe and fawn running right at me and my dad once while hunting public land in FL and they came to about 5 yes of us before my dad waved his hand towards them and then darted the other way. My dad smoked and neither of us used any scent killers. I think sometimes they smell ya sometimes they don't.

I usually use it. Still hunt the wind but I haven't shot any less dear from using it. Just a habit now but wouldn't not hunt if I forgot to bring it.

I have been using scent free crap for ten years. I have no clue if it had led me to more deer or not. I play the wind and swear by it. I bowhunt so I have to be meticulous about my scent and access trails, etc

I wash my clothes in scent free detergent, store it in plastic bags, shower with scent killer soap before I hunt and spray anything I think may absorb odor with scent killer spray. I'm meticulous about scent control and while I still hunt the wind, you can't always be downwind from a deer's approach. I get winded very rarely by deer I have sight of. I can't tell you how many wind me that I don't see, but have been directly upwind of deer that never knew I was there hundreds of times. I use Dead Downwind laundry detergent and Scent Killer soap and spray.

My thought on this is. You can't use scent killer in your mouth and your mouth/breathe is always gonna have a scent and prob more than the rest of you. Basically cover your clothes and skin in scent killer and then you breathe and get busted.

I keep my hunting clothes in a bag with scent wafers; cedar for Junction and dirt for Crockett.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Same here... I just hunt the wind as much as possible. I've watched countless game animals walk directly down the same trail I had just walked 5 min beforehand and they never give my scent a second thought it doesn't seem. But others bust me when I'm sure I've got the wind to my favor.

I guess you could chew on one of those scent wafers They actually used to make a chewing gum just for this a few years back.

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

I use Dead Down Wind, but like many of you I've gone with and without scent control in the field.
In both scenarios I've had deer bust me from over 100 yards away and others walk within 5 yards of my stand without raising an alarm. I don't know how much they help exactly, but in my opinion it definitely doesn't hurt to use them.

Never trust any scent elimination product. Hunt downwind. If you need peace of mind by wearing clothes that cost 50% more and spraying mild soapy water on you, then by all means go for it.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

Learned this last spring. This year I am just taking some cedar berries, crushing them up in my hands and rubbing my clothes before I walk to my blind. The wind direction is the most important thing.

It's been proven by a number of studies that spray-on sent elimination products don't have any effect. Only thing they eliminate is dollars from our wallet.

I think its key to get off the ground as high up as you can I hunt on the ground, have had deer down wind of me at 40 yds and not get busted. Then turn around and have one bust me from 100 out. I understand thermals can help when elevated but I don't like blind hunting anymore.
