A few folks have mentioned trying to go to the Dallas Safari Club show on Saturday, Jan. 10.

The convention will be at Market Hall in Dallas.

Admission is $15.00 per person.

There was a mention of a meeting spot for everyone and the Texas Parks & Wildlife-Operation Game Theif display sounds as good as any to me.

Show starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and ends at 6:00p.m..

Lora and I will not be there until 10:00 or 11:00 that morning.

Meeting time for anyone interested in going, could be from 12:30 to 1:00 at the TP&W Operation Game Thief display.

If anyone can think of a better time or location please chime in.

Can't make it this year! Gotta do the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Clinic again this year! Should be about 2500 coaches again from all over the state!

Wished that I was going to be hunting.

For any interested parties, instead of meeting at the TP&W Operation Game Thief booth between 12:30 and 1:00, lets change that to meeting at the bar directly behind the DSC Membership Pavillion between 12:30 and 1:00

I finally got a look at the floor plan and the TP&W exhibit is all the way at the far end of the hall.

Lora and I should be fairly easy to spot, we will both be wearing THF t shirts.

If a person has never been to the thing it is an experience.

What great time I had Saturday at the DSC Annual Show. First time I've been in several years and it's got to be one of the "must see" events anywhere in the State. This year's Show was bigger and much better than I remembered, with several factory booths that were not there my last time to go.
I really appreciated the opportunity to talk first hand with folks like my old rep buddies Rick Stovall of Leupold & Bert Kiker of of Swarovski, my good friend Mims Reed and his always lovely wife Karen of Hunter Headquarters, the poor guys I got to "visit" with from Hornady and Kimber about what I wanted to see from their lines and got to make some new friends of Matt Bettersworth of Hill Country Rifles and Wayne Jacobson of American Hunting Rifles. Only factory booth I missed that I really wanted to see was Ruger.

As per usual it was good to see & visit with Miss Lora B & her other half who was most easily identifiable from the ever present green bottle & hog tooth necklace. Carefull bubba, we'uns are fixin to need a permanent susbscription to Grecian Formula but I got tickled at seeing even Ron Rutledge is going gray. Rick Stovall & I go back over 30 years after Joe McBride bought lunch and introduced us when Rick was doing a Zebco event at the store in Austin and I was still working for the distributor in Carrollton. Bert reminded me that we had first met at a Sports Show at Market Hall well over 20 years ago when he first got in the business.

Well too bad ya'll missed a good 'un ... and too bad I can't take advantage this year of the $150 Axis doe hunts Lora found and I am dying to do the totally fair chase $800 Cow or $2000 Mgt Bull Bison hunt in South Dakota thats done January thru April on Ted Turners 141,000 acre no cattle allowed land. Ya get the head & hide, meat, gutted and loaded and your choice of critters when the gun goes off. Finances are still just a tad too thin but next year...hummm what am I gonna do with 4-500lb of boneless prime 2 year old bison heifer, I'm sure I can figger it out!!

If'n ya want to see some good lookin shoot'in irons go see the American Hunting Rifle website @ www.hunting-rifles .com as the 9.3x62 African styled sample Wayne had in some of the best French Walnut I've ever seen was calling me this morning waking up thinking about what I'd seen yesterday. I'm prolly have HCR go thru my M70 300WMg and do at least an accurizing job, or mebbe a full blown makeover using a McMillan stock, new barrel w/NECG DG sights & trigger as finances allow. Who knows I might just wind up with a ??? Alaska/African shooter that will do justice to a praire dog gun for accuracy.

Like I said Ya'll missed a good'un!
Ron
