Looking to try to get a little more serious in sporting clays and skeet shooting and was curious what y'all's opinion was on the best option was on a entry level over and under that would be good to start with. Don't want a cheap gun...but no 3000 dollar gun either. I'm a big and almost strictly browning enthusiast...so wanting to stay with that if possible. Just seeing what the popular vote is out there. Let me know. Thanks!

Fit of a shotgun for clays is an important part of the selection process. If you go to a good SC shop and try out several brands you can find one that fits.
Brand-wise, any of the entry level B-guns (Browning/Beretta) should work well for you. Look for something with at least a 28" barrel but 30 and 32" aren't out of the question.
Either brand of those in the used market should be well under your $3000 cap.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Nothing wrong with that choice!

I'm a bit of a heretic when it comes to barrel length. I believe that you should take your height into consideration. In the 50's the standard skeet length was 26" by the 80's it was 28" today 30" is becoming common. During the same period average height increased. Sporting clays guns tend to be a bit longer than skeet guns. If your mix is heavier one way or the other I would choose the gun better suited the one you shoot the most. I'm shorter than average height and prefer a 28" barrel for skeet and a 30" for sporting. If you are taller than average I think that you might be better off with longer.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Or 725 sporting. Browning is trying to help us with smaller wallets, get in to the SC game . I have one in 20 ga and really like it, 5 stand Dan can testify, it will break targets if U can figure them out. If I go to a 12 ga, and try to take it real serious, then I will look at the 725 High rib , the Beretta 692 high rib or the Zoli (pushin my budget) Go to Cabela's (not sure where you live) as you don't provide this info. they have both the Browning and the Beretta

Find a good Citori. Less than half of your $3000 top end value and a great shotgun.

See if you can find a used (or even new although prices aren't as low as they used to be) Citori. Check your local skeet/S.C. range. Someone might have one that has been well treated for sale. You can get your hands on an excellent firearm without paying full sticker.
Another thing about barrel length... longer barrels will generally keep you moving. They'll help prevent you from stopping your swing. They're not for everyone though, so test fit a couple. You might see if you can find a local sporting clay/skeet range and see if some fellow shooters will let you try a few guns out for a round or two. I know at the club where I shoot, any of the folks out there would be more than happy to let you test drive.
