As some of you know I have been after a buck I call "Tear Duct" that I have posted in the Deer hunting section. Well I was blessed enough to bag him this morning. I have only taken a doe with my bow and that was in 2011. This is my first buck with a bow and he is my biggest to date.

Ok guys here is my full report.

Got in the stand a about 6:20 this morning after getting settled in. Finally got a little light around 7 and feeder went off around 7:10. A few minutes went by and I heard footsteps to my right. Had a young forked horn come in made his way to the feeder. He fed for a few minutes before I heard some more footsteps from around the same location. I looked and it was a spike but he hung up and didn't want to come in. I am 17 feet in the air and it is very hard to see anything through the trees. He kept looking at the buck at feeder and then into the brush. The buck at feeder kept looking into brush as well.

The little spike finally walked through the brush and made his way to feeder. Immediately following I heard something in the brush and saw large dark antlers and I knew it was a good one. Once he cleared the brush and I saw the right g4 I knew it was Tear Duct and now was my chance. He walked within about 7 yards of me going to the feeder and the 2 other bucks quickly gave him space.

The 2 young bucks began sparring as I grabbed my bow. I had to be very still and wait for them so I could get into position. They walked right under my stand and into the brush. Once they got to where I couldn't see them I raised my bow. My arm was getting tired waiting for him to turn and my heart was pounding so I kept lowing the bow and resting my arm.

As he started to turn I made sure the other deer couldn't see me and I drew back. Waited for him to pick his head up and move his left front leg forward and I released the arrow. I watched the luminoc bury in his LF shoulder with a loud "THWACK" and with a mule kick he was off.

I saw my arrow fall out and could see the green glow of the arrow on the ground. I knew I didn't get a pass through but felt very confident in the shot. As y'all know I have my Iphone mounted to my bow and got a decent video of the shot considering it is a phone .

I got down to check the arrow and I got about 7 inches of penetration before he broke it off. Took a glance around but didn't see him so I got back in the tree. I watched the video over and over for about an hour. It was a very cool morning in the 40's and between the cold and my nerves I was shaking uncontrollably at times .

I got down and started on the blood trail. The trail was very faint without a pass through but nice dark blood. I could see his heavy tracks from stumbling in the wet dirt from the previous rains. I followed blood for maybe 30 yards before it got hard to follow. I looked up and about 20 more yards behind a tree there he was.

As I got close to him he got bigger and there was blood everywhere around him. The Slick Tricks did their job and he only went 52 yards.

Great Buck Dustin!!! Congrats!!! I'm glad you were able to get him!!! Wish I could have been there this weekend to see him in person. Did your brother get to come this weekend? I plan on going back out next weekend, sure wish I was seeing one as nice as your buck. But you never know what might show up with the rut kicking in.

Thanks Lynn. Yeah I am kind of surprised nobody else is down. There was a Grey Tundra by Dennis' trailer when I got back from town though. Not sure who it is though.

The rut should be kicking in hard next week or so and they should start moving around. My brother couldn't make it this trip but should be down next weekend though. Good luck next weekend!!!
