A guy I work with has a Herters Duck Call... I was looking for any info about it and roughly what it's worth for him. His uncle gave it to him when he passed. Any info/help would be appreciated!!

Thats old school for sure and a jewel to the one who knows what they are looking at! That call was designed for Open water hunting and I bet it has an Aluminum reed in it, if so then its going to bring in more money. The screw is for holding the insert in place ....another old school trade mark.
Grampa prob payed $10 for it in the early 80's but it can bring him $50 or more.

I'll have to check the reed out again... it was a single, but I didn't look at the material.
It made a pretty sweet sound still. Might have to add it to my lanyard.

$200 + in that condition easy. I'll try and pull out "The Duck Calls of Minnesota" this weekend and be able to tell you the model number. 1930's-1940's.

Note the funky "Herter's" V bend in the old metal reed. Note also that the insert is machined to screw in to the barrel....took me forever to figure out how to take it apart.

There was one on ebay recently where the guy put one of those duck calls into a MUCH more recent goose call box and it sold for over $300. The collectors would not have been fooled. The pristine condition is extraordinary. I'll see if I can find the listing.

Does he have the box and instruction sheet? A call with the original box and instructions will get the best price.

Wow interesting info... thanks all for the input.

The guy doesn't hunt and knows how much I like duck hunting... ended up giving me the call on Friday and said he knew it would have a good home.

I'll have to hook him and his family up with some State Fair Tickets and food&ride coupons.

No box or sheet... just the call.
