I left Dallas on Sept 5th, and returned on the 29th. Here are a few pics from the safari. I dont have pics of my Eland, they are on the PH's phone. Just a heads up. Dont wound an eland. I shot him late in the evening. We started tracking him at first light the next morning. We didnt catch up with him until around 5 in the afternoon. Thankfully that was the only bad shot of the safari. I got to take my dad with me as well. He was able to take a few plains game on the trip.

Here is a pic of my Eland

me drinking skuds with the staff. Its fermented beer, and fermented milk. It took a few days to get over this one. It was the same night we shot the buffalo, so everybody was happy.

Congratulations on some great trophies. Very nice buff. Just about the widest kudu I've ever seen. I have not one, but two, much worse eland stories; glad you found him.

"Ndatenda" for posting.

Well done! I especially like your excellent bushbuck. He would make a gorgeous life-size mount.

Thanks guys. Bobo no worries about Dave getting back logged for a while. It will be about 8 months until I get my stuff back. I intend to full body the bushbuck. It was a good time, but I stayed too long.

Congratulations, looks like a fantastic trip. Cape Buffalo is next on my list for Africa. Did you see a lot of nice bulls? Who did you hunt with?

I was in South Africa in August and eland was something that I wanted from my first safari to Namibia, but they never stopped running the ten days I was there!! This time the owner of the ranch we where to hunt on had his guys out scouting for a nice bull at first light and found mine bedded down at the base of a cliff. We snuck up above him and my PH said to be sure to hit him in the shoulder and break bone. I had a very steady rest and my shot was just a bit high. I broke his neck and he never moved. Everyone was sure happy that we didn't have to chase after him the rest of the day.

Eddie

The buff were on the move. We changed areas 4 times until I got that buff. We tracked them daily for the first ten days of the hunt. We were tracking buff when we bumped into the eland.

Very cool trip and photos, but what strikes me as the coolest is those memories were with your Father. You will miss him on day, as i miss mine....but you will also have this time to reflect on. Very nice.
