Me not so good. Zero for thirty. Tried everything hoping just to land one. Hope there will be some kind of stand by. How about you? How many points did it take.

I applied for 12 I think, drew Pedernales falls state park annex, gun deer, either sex. However, I did not read that it was muzzleloader or archery. So, either I have an excuse to buy a muzzleloader, or I'll be packing the crossbow since I blew out my shoulder.

Heard it is a cool hunt. You have to hike a mile to a cabin. You have a chance at exotics. Good luck have fun.

0 for 10 on Gun Deer. 1 for 7 on youth hunt and 1 for 1 on Texas youth hunting program. As I am wanting to hunt with my kids and get some meat, not too bad I think! Still have the second draw, my back pasture, and a buddies land for me to hunt. Might even buy the public hunting land permit.

I only apply for one whitetail hunt, Chaparral, 16 years now. Same with pronghorn, 16 years. Mule deer, 7 years (since it was separated from the whitetail hunts).

Struck out on all so far. I can't be too upset as I have drawn something for the last 4 years in a row. The Draw Hunts are an awesome program.

Struck out on Private and Gun Deer Antlerless. Pending 2nd draw on GDE and GDM.
Still waiting on Gemsbok and Oryx, which are hardly likely.

Well looks like my boys did good! Me nothing, I already posted about our Matagorda island trip, and my oldest was selected for a TYHP trip to Hixon. Just got an email saying my oldest was drawn for an antler-less tag for Sam Houston National forest. We will have plenty of hunting opportunities this year at least!

Nothing so far. Got drawn for James Daughtrey last year and shot my biggest buck to date down there.

We applied for 9 gun deer hunts and got picked for 3. Antlerless at Kickapoo, management at Daughtrey and Mason Mt, also archery mule deer at Black Gap. This must be our lucky year.

2-20, not the 2 at the top of my wish list. But, this was my first year entering, so that's damn lucky to pull down 2. I am thankful. Buddy was 1-25, but he landed Cooper WMA, 3 deer can be harvested on that skirmish, not bad.

BTW, anyone had luck on the second draw in years past? Times for that vary based on when the deadline to pay the permit runs out for those selected, or so I understand. I paid for my two immediately, left enough to chance already.

Heard it is a cool hunt. You have to hike a mile to a cabin. You have a chance at exotics. Good luck have fun. I am looking forward to it. Think I'll go ahead and drop a couple hundred on a muzzleloader. Since I can take 2 deer+ exotics and hogs, I'd like to really have a productive hunt!

What does "Pending 2nd Draw" mean?? If any of the lucky ones don't pay up in time, they redraw the permit.

My son went 0-17 in the youth draw. He was pretty bummed out - then picked up a hunt at daughtry (management - doe/spike) in the second draw. You never know.
My mom (79) and I drew inks antlerless/spike. We applied for 7 years before we drew our first hunt (doe/spike at inks). Last year we didn't draw, but did get selected on standby. Drew with one preference point his year. We have 9 pts for GDE and she told me she's may be too old before we get drawn for a buck hunt.
The TPWD guys have treated her great. She has taken three deer on the previous two hunts. I chauffeur her around, pack gear, and clean deer. It's a blessing to get to spend time with her in the field.

Deadline for purchasing the permit on the 2 I was selected for is 10-13-14, so I would expect the 2nd draw for most of these in mid October. Not sure of the pay by date is the same for all, but I have a draw hunt in Mid December and the other is mid January, and the pay by date was the same for both. I paid for both as soon as I was notified. He who hesitates is left at home with empty freezer.

It's not the weight of the load that breaks your back, it's how you carry it.
